I considerd the Rem SAUM in my search for a new rifle. They sound like a very good concept. I am still undecided on them though. I am going to stay away from the Rem Short Action Ultra Mag until I can see if they are here to stay.Since Remington rifles are the only ones (that I know of) that are offered in SAUM I would think that the ammo is going to be real expensive and maybe hard to find.Winchester beat Remington to the short action cartridge and I know that Browning, Winchester, and Savage all chamber rifles in the Winchester Shrort Mag.

Personally I did not see any figures in the comparison tables that looked impressive enough to make anyone want to go out and buy one. Its ok if you dont have a rifle and are looking for one, but for the rest of us, theres no point in getting a diff. one just cause its a tad shorter action. Dont despair, your long action is safe.

I wasnt trying to make anybody get rid of the long actioned guns. It's kinda like the age old argument "mines bigger than yours". Now somebody is gonna get a "shorty" to perform whith the big guns. Imagine siting at the range bragging that .300 win or 7mm mag and along comes some litte snot nosed punk with that little shorty that will do just as good as the real gun. Makes me wanna run out and buy the biggest dang magnum I can find just so I can say "beat this with your little shorty".
    when all else fails........................

Nah, like it here too much. and I'll play dumb, who is mike?? Besides, it's too easy to ruffle feathers on here. Only thing is a couple of the comments really pissed me off and I flew off the handle. I'm better now after some prozac.

7mm,I know what you mean, I had a small gun complex for a long time, so now I got the .338 Win Mag and use it for everything, and just in case some smartbutt comes along and says hes got the super duper newest thing that will, blah blah blah, I got the 458 Win Mag, that I never shoot, waiting in the rack. Here friend shoot this, nah it dont kick at all, (hold tight sucker) under my breath. If I could just figure out how to make a 50 BMG in disguise, in a regular rifle, GAWD!!! that would hurt. Yeah I got your short magnum right here, try this. NO NO, I'll load it for you, hey whats that over there...., here you go, all ready to go for you.

The numbers are nice, But as robsguns said if you have a long action why do you want a shorty, unless just to say you have one. my rem 700 in 300 weatherby mag does just fine as an overachiever and it is rounded up by the 2506.

Robsguns, you're not a nice person! LOL! Got a buddy who likes hot chilis and chili sauces (even has a shotgun bandolier with small bottles of chili sauce in it!). He keeps around some "Nova Hot" sauce just for those jerkoffs with testosterone problems. "Naw, it's never too hot for me!" "Really? Try some of this..."

When I get carried away, I grab the 45-70 Carbine and knock my self back down to reality. I still want one of them new shorties.

In the future shorter brass will be more common, reason is longer brass and Loads areuseless on a short B ,powder still burningafter the round have exited the B,(as the fantastic picture of the .50 night shot at a previous post),a shorter 1/3 brass with a fast burning 1/3 powder will push the ball at the same speed ,otherwise buy a 50 foot bull B so there is no powder energy waste ,I think exit velocity might go as 3,890 FPSwith a 700G ball or even hit 4,000 FPS with a 50 footer ,but you will sure need a crane to lift aim and shoot...HE HE HE!

Judge, you need to read an article I once did, on how long is too long. I'm talking about barrels, not something else, like posts.
