I was browsing the paper this morn' while have my a cup of 'joe' and there was a short blurb on the front page about increased security at the Port of Mobile. Article went on to say that there is concern that terrorist might possibly hijack a ship and use it for damage purposes. The article stated a ship could be sunk at the entrance to a harbor to disrupt shipping, a ship could be used to ram and destroy a bridge, a ship carrying hazardous cargo (propane, acids, even crude oil, etc.) could be destroyed creating a tremendous enviromental disaster. Now, as I'm reading this I can just visualize a terrorist group sitting around the kitchen table having breakfast and one of them reading the paper says, "Hey guys, I just got an idea!"I'm not trying to make light of the subject but why help 'em any more than necessary.

Yes indeed! Talked about that very thing this AM. We have the television "reporters" asking for code words used by our military. Newspaper reporters expressing their "what if" scenarios. Along with Hollywood showing how to do it (watch "Executive Decision" now for chills) coupled with 8 years of Klintons open America and we have pretty much given any half wit some pretty good ideas on how to cause mayhem here. What about that Crop Duster spraying that Tug Boat and pleasure craft on the Mighty Mississippi? http://news.excite.com/news/ap/011021/18/crop-duster-towboat

I'm thinking ifn I'm afloat, chances are some type of firepower is available. Crop Duster at proper spraying altitude seems like an easy target, bigger than a Dove anyhow!Of course you have to get a Ma deuce mounted up on DOLORES not only does she deserve it but for the security of our Nation as well!

Let me know if you need any help with the mounting brackets for the "fifty" on the Lady. Be happy to help, especially if allowed to come aboard during test trials.

That's it, 5db, by golly that's it. I get all the local jetski types and have 'em gather up kinda hid behind a pier. Then I'll sit out in the middle of the river and get the 50 cal all ready and then holler, "PULL". And then.......................

I'd suggest for sport, a multi-barrel'd spud gun in 2" caliber PVC. Them water borne crotch rokets might mock you a bit at first but once they realize the ol' spud gun is just a distraction...... well as the saying goes; a man without his boat is just a bobber.

Back in a time when there seemed to be more time to think there was a saying LOOSE LIPSSINK SHIPS. Methinks the same could very well apply today.

You right on Patrick. Damn media seems to think they should get all the sensitive info they can so they can put it on the front page.

Pelican - I agree wholeheartedly w/ both the thrust of your original post, "why give the enemy any data the easy way?" and the turn it took. Only problem is, wouldn't you be violating the Clean Water Act by blowing all that fecal matter into the water? Why not simply stake out the launching ramps before they even start the things up? Not as much of a challenge, but better for the environment.
