After hearing of salzo problem I am waiting to see how my local smithy does. I went to the range today and after 100 rnds through my 5906 smith the extractor fell apart, showed it to the counter manager and he let me use one of the rental glocks to finish my stress management session. The smithy will be in tomarrow to let me know how much and how long, I'll keep you posted on the out come.

You should only be charged for labor. The part is FREE. Under the lifetime warranty. S&W would fix it free if you would send the slide in. Failing that, they will provide the parts free in exchange for knowing the serial number of the gun.

Well after a conversation with Smith and Wesson and the smithy, the gun goes back to smith. The smithy was more than happy to do the work but Smith will not send him the parts, they dont want any one but the factory to replace a chipped or broken extractor.
