I just finished the prime coat on the golf cart. Dang it was a lot of snding the old stuff. Very little body putty was used, but a lot of sanding.
Primer coat is a lot easier and more forgiving with runs. I don't know when the last time the gun was used. 15 years ago maybe. It worked OK.
What I didn't understand was, I would swear about 1/2 the rate of primer was applied when I held the gun in the upright position. If sprayed out of position, such as spraying down or hold the gun sideways and spray up and down, a normal amount of primer was applied. But, to hold the gun upright, I had to go real slow and hold it real close.
I checked the rubber hose for the vent to the cup before I started, as well as the fittings on each end, and it was clear, Any ideas. I also know to spray in the same direction as the head is positioned. If you spray in the opposite direction you coat a narrow band real thick.
The gun would definitely paint better when I held it out of position.
Any ideas?

Hold it out of position. Don
Thanks.
Problem solved.
Sounds to me like it is either a plugged fluid nozzle or air cap, i used to rebuild thosequite often yrs ago. or it is a possible wrong tip set up for the application you are using, clean the caps real well with a toothpick and a blower nozzle and retry, if it doesnt clear up change your needle and tip assmblys
bingo! Fluid nozzle has some crap on the bottom that was dragging the pain. When I held it out of position, the paint would flow more freely.
Thanks.
