...9 1/2 in. barrel. In three words: OH MY GOD! I have never shot a handgun larger than a 45 before, so this one was quite a handful, to say the least! First shot was a clean miss. I think if my eyes had of been open, it would have helped. [:I] After that first shot, I calmed down, and the gun was awesome! I was using Hornady's ammo, 325 grain hollow-point. Gun shot a 5 shot group (remember, a clean miss with the first shot!) of just over 2 1/2 inches at 50 yards with open sights and no rest. I was impressed! I shot 2 boxes of shells through it, but the groups never changed much after that. I think my wrist getting sore after the first 12 shots or so was the reason. Gonna take some serious practice to get good with this thing! I hope to bag a deer with it this fall. Time will tell!

bhayes420 was that with or without changing the sight settings from where I had them? My 390 grain load would shoot Minute of Pepsi can at 100 yards from a kneeling position with the sight setting I had on it when it left here.

bhayes, That's some impressive shooting with open sights and no rest and a gun bigger than anything you've ever shot before!!!

Allen, Did you get your 500S&W yet? Let us know how you handle that beast! Also, you can call me a wuss but that LimbSaver recoil pad on the 300SAUM was worth every penny! Not much different than a 260 with the new pad on! I guess the pad on Sarah's 260 will make it like a Hornet!!!! I hope so for the kid!! Anything to make the shooting more pleasant for the youngsters is worth it!!! GHD

The .480 sounds great, but I opted for the super redhawk 9.5 in .454. The biggest gun I've ever shot. I grouped about 3in at 50yrds with a 2x swift. I'm gonna use it this fall for deer instead of my trusty Winchester 30-30. I was shooting 260gr Hornadies in Winchester brass.

GHD I already have 100 rounds of 440 grain loads to go for the 500, just waiting on a revolver.

Allen...No, I haven't messed with the sights. I kinda figured you had them dialed in pretty good. [:D] Like I said, gonna take some serious practice to shoot this big sucker well. But that is OK! [:p] After the holes it was leaving in the dead sweet gum tree that my target was hanging from, I do believe it will do a number on a white-tail.
