You trained with the SAS?Wow.I'm shocked. They personally handpick soldiers from the US to train with them. I've found a new respect for you! Those guys are the best. Charlie Beckwith modeled Delta on the SAS after he spent some time with them in Malaysia and thought "Damn! The US Special Forces should really have a unit like this."They dont give a tinker's damn about political correctness or traditional Army norms. Forget spit and polish. They concentrate on results. Typical selection course: a candidate is given a hand drawn map with a point on it, and then told he must make it there within a certain time limit. They dont tell him what the limit is. He must trek in the pitch dark on 3 hours of sleep until he physically collapses or makes it to the point. While carrying a 75 lb. Bergen on his back and carrying a rifle. He doesnt make it in, he gets there after the time limit, he gets lost, he loses or damages his pack or rifle, and he automatically flunks. They routinely wash out entire applicant groups without accepting a single person. 200, 250 guys sent packing without one getting kept. And these guys are from elite British units like the Highland Fusiliers. It must have been a real trip. I envy you. Must read:"Delta Force", by Col. Charles Beckwith[This message has been edited by Bullzeye (edited 01-12-2002).]

So much training sometimes I ask for what??but is fun to remember some...Being to Panama ?--Follow the PIPES and you make it ,pay the kid to lead you there HE HE HE ! In the capture course a RED team member will try to capture you with a "wood" riflebeat the "dung" out of him and scape ,don't mess him too bad ,he will be madder than heck but you pass, war is dirty (you Know). In the trap course, relocate the traps simulators, lead the read team to follow youso they fall in their own traps ,you pass. In sniper test shoot at far away targets first then take the nearest ones,if you don't miss a single one you pass. In the improvization course you will be asked to blow up a building ,select the 105 simulator ,5 gallon gasoline bag, nylon string and duct tape ,go to the basement duct tape M105S under the bag, place in floor, run the string from outside the building to the pull ring, and tie, go out, scream fire in the hole, pull string, run and take cover, watch it go off, it's a sure you pass (10 to 5 minutes). AWWW ! thoose days were sure fun ..... Ever blew a Hummer sky hi with a 105 simulator ? OPPS! sorry captain it was an accident HE HE HE! Good cure for thoose RANK pushingcompetition "bugs" in your turf... Don't drive in the range wile supervising go on foot..... Miss the "old" times don't you all? The rush, the competition, the paranoia, the back stabbing .....The missions, the blood, the toil, all so a burecrat can sit in an air conditioned chair smoking a cigar ... that is freedom my friends!
