Rifles sold to remind of tragedy Rock Hill man comes up with Sept. 11 commemorative gun idea The Associated PressROCK HILL -- A Rock Hill man fired away the idea of a commemorative gun to a Colorado dealer, and now 25,000 people nationwide can buy special rifles as a reminder of the Sept. 11 attacks.Darren Nichols, owner of Nichols Store in Rock Hill, said he doesn't want anyone to forget the tragedy.Investment Arms, which makes other collectible weapons, has issued 500 special edition Ruger .22-caliber rifles for each state."I just thought it would be nice to find a way to help the families," Nichols said. "I think we all remember when the nation came to a standstill because of this. The people who died that day are all heroes." About $50 per gun will go to the Twin Towers Fund in New York. The stock of the rifle has an etching of the World Trade Center towers, the Pentagon and an eagle. Each South Carolina rifle is numbered, and "United We Stand" is imprinted on it.A 24-carat New York gold quarter is inlaid in the rifle's stock with the words, "For Those Who Answered The Call, We Will Not Forget." The rifles cost $399 each at Nichols' store. http://web.thestate.com/content/columbia/2001/12/08/local/guns08.htm

I hope this act of "Greedy Opportunism", wrapped in the flag, is seen for what it is. However, "A fool and their money...!"Boomer

Oh yeah the greedy and oportunists are out there. I saw on here a guy that was selling what I think was a Ruger rifle, an early one, with the serial # 911, and he suggested that it would make a great raffle item for raising money in light of the recent events. Some people, ????

I agree boomer..what's next, maybe "commerative dog collars" or toilet paper with 10% of it's 50% over charged price going to the fund.People should just give to a charity of their choice if they want to help, and forget shameless stuff such as this.I have written back to a couple of like offers I have recieved and told them that they should be ashamed of their actions.Anything for the "allmighty dollar" I guess...

No Bkeep, your right. Some of us always were Patreotic. We did our job and came home raised our kids, paid out taxes, went to church. Now all the anti war, gun control phonies like Geroldo, Martin Sheen,Ray Ramino are waving their flags and saying "Look at me, I'm a patriot"."If you are the type of person that has to spend time telling people you are the type who cares, you're probably not".

You are right "Bee-Man of infinite wisdom"...although I always had a secret wish to be a Pagan, rather than a Heathen, because it sounded like Pagans had more fun! Seriously though, when asked to serve, how many of those "New Patriots" said "let someone else do it"?

Sunshine patriots! That's what I call them,,, these people who all the sudden think it's cool to show red, white and blue. But here's the real bi**h of it all, These people who are running around with these cheap flags on their car. These things suck, they don't stay on, and are not designed to withstand a trip down the interstate. but everyday I see some dum fu*#er going 75 mph with one sticking out of the car window. Nothing pisses me off more that seeing a American flag laying in the medain or road ditch just like all the other trash. Three times I have stopped and took it upon myself to pick up these flags. One flag layed in the median of I-29 all day untill I stopped and picked it up. I would like to slap somebody! It takes a little more than just flying a cheap flag to show your American pride. And yes I can't type!

Got an American flag on my pickup. It's my front 'license plate'(I'd say tag, but we wore that one out).Been on 3 trucks now.One of my daughters got it for me for Christmas years ago.I still get a tinge seeing all these flags now. HEY, NICE FLAG, too bad you weren't a Patriot when you bought that Toyota!!

I too am glad to see all the flags and such that have become in vouge since Sept. 11. I just wish some people would take better care of their flags. Not letting them blow off their cars would be a good first step!
