Rifles sold to remind of tragedy Rock Hill man comes up with Sept. 11 commemorative gun idea The Associated PressROCK HILL -- A Rock Hill man fired away the idea of a commemorative gun to a Colorado dealer, and now 25,000 people nationwide can buy special rifles as a reminder of the Sept. 11 attacks.Darren Nichols, owner of Nichols Store in Rock Hill, said he doesn't want anyone to forget the tragedy.Investment Arms, which makes other collectible weapons, has issued 500 special edition Ruger .22-caliber rifles for each state."I just thought it would be nice to find a way to help the families," Nichols said. "I think we all remember when the nation came to a standstill because of this. The people who died that day are all heroes." About $50 per gun will go to the Twin Towers Fund in New York.The stock of the rifle has an etching of the World Trade Center towers, the Pentagon and an eagle. Each South Carolina rifle is numbered, and "United We Stand" is imprinted on it.A 24-carat New York gold quarter is inlaid in the rifle's stock with the words, "For Those Who Answered The Call, We Will Not Forget."
