i'm going shopping for a clay pidgon thrower.

does anyone recomand one over another? i was looking at a post mount. that will do most everything. i really need the practice.and have a nice little field where i can set it up. i am really loking forward to trying the running rabbits w/ the .22.

I just bought a trius. Like it so far. Can mount it several different ways. Have mine mounted on an old tire and wheel so I can move it easily.

I'm not sure what brand I have but it's one you step down on the arm to release the pidgeon. So they say you can throw and shoot all by yourself. I wouldn't recommend this type if you're thinking of shooting by yourself. I tried it a few times by myself and I don't really like the feel of being on one leg with a loaded gun and then trying to stop down to release the lever. Works pretty darn good though when you've got a buddy with you.I think it might also be a trius.[This message has been edited by GreenLantern (edited 02-15-2002).]

WE [my neighbors & I] got a couple of Trius, also. We mounted them on large wooden wire spools the telephone co. gave us. They've worked great for the last couple of years, but, the weather does get to 'em after a while.Tideman

Hand held throwers are not worth one lousey cent. I have a 50 year old one that sits on the ground and works great. I'll check the brand and get back to you.

Trius throwers are pretty cheaply made...had one, didn't hold up. You can get pidgeons about anywhere here in KY. Just picked up a 2 boxes of Remington at the local wally world. $3.96 for 90.

Pidgeons are fairly inexpensive. I thought they'd cost more. I've only gotten a few broken ones here and there. Don't skimp on the thrower. It's almost as bad as skimping on optics.

just got back from cabela's last night, i picked up a do all trap, post mount. it looks like it should work fine, i just have to wait for the ground to thaw, so i can plant a post. it was 65$ and my sister had given me a 30$ gift card for b-day, can't beat that!!!!!!! thanks for the advice!!!!!
