Kinda like being stuck inside of Mobile with them Memphis Blues again? Now the rainman gave me two cures,Then he said, "Jump right in."The one was Texas medicine,The other was just railroad gin.An' like a fool I mixed themAn' it strangled up my mind,An' now people just get uglierAn' I have no sense of time.Oh, Mama, can this really be the end,To be stuck inside of MobileWith the Memphis blues again[This message has been edited by ICE NINE (edited 11-19-2001).]

Beekeep - You were cursed with a work ethic, plain and simple. What a burden to bear! I have an unbroken string of 17 "first days" going but have come thisclose the last couple of years to having it broken. I mean this sincerely, my condolences on your circumstance. From reading your posts I make the assumption that, like most all of the readers here, you don't spend "the season" in Aspen or take a month every year to go after the Big Five in Africa. Opening day is one of those sacrosanct rituals that is really painful to miss. Hope your buddies take a lot of good photos.

A lot of businesses here in WV are closed today. They figure, why bother trying to do business with 95% of your troops out in the woods? I don't hunt but I don't begrudge the privilege to those of you who do. Mrs. Mudge, however, is a different story!Mudge
I can't come to work today. The voices said, STAY HOME AND CLEAN THE GUNS!

Ice,that`s one of my favorite Dylan tunes..don`t forget"He just smoked my eye lids, and punched my cigarette"Lord Rembrandt, the lodge is in terrible dissrepair..not up to the standards of a gentlman of your caliber,at the moment..218

Sir Beekeep, roughing it in the country at your lodge would be no problem.....a little uncivilized barbarian lodging would build character....gentlemen of our position seek challenges and thrive on adversity....(by the way...you do have indoor plumbing?)

This might seem somewhat personal, but the facilities at your hunting lodge.....don't know exactly how to ask this,...but do you use toilet paper, corn cobs, or Sears & Roebuck catalogs?

218-If you are anywhere close to the Alabama line, you might consider getting an Out of State Lic. & help reduce the severe overpopulation of deer in the state. Limit in the southern half of the state--2 deer each day for the entire 76 day season. Any centerfire rifle with mushrooming bullets, any shotgun 10 ga. or smaller. Dave

Dave,I`m way down here in Naples..it`s about 7 hour to Alabama. That does sound good though, and come to think of it..I have a niece/neice in Troy, and a friend in Dothan. These are good thoughts for the future!!Thanks!!My neigbor/friend just called while I was painting the bank at night, called him and one of his brothers back, they are a big clan. They have been wondering about me,they are a fine bunch. They told me that it is very dry up in W.V.,and in the 70s so not much hunting goin` on in that part.I`ve got it figured that I can get there for doe season, knock down a couple for the freezer!!Just the same,I`ve been thinkin` about Alabama..Hey Dave, how long is the season there?Thanks,.218

Hunted in W.Va. about 7 years. There are many places where you can hunt any time you please.Get a Buck every year.Maybe several if you want.

Just came thru W(ByGod)Virginia, and saw some of the biggest bucks in the back of pickup trucks, and one across the back of a fourwheeler driven by a Kid that couldn't have been over the age of 10. Probably missed a good opening day, but maybe you can be consoled by getting one of Fla's monster deer (all 90 pounds of Him). But they don't have aligators to hunt, so maybe your better off in South Florida.

218beekeep, I for one feel your pain, I am coming to you live from good ole West Virginia, eastern panhandle where we have some great bucks and plenty of deer. I am not sure how long your job will take but just remember, you have all next week of buck, then a week of doe, followed by a week of muzzleloader, and then round out the year with bow.....so if you do make it back before all the seasons are over, I am sure you will find something to chase....but tomorrow I will dedicate to you and your schedule and focus on another big buck....Happy Thanksgiving, hope your return trip is soon and safe......swishman

At least you are "Hunting" money painting a Bank ,that is unless you went too low on the contract ,hope good luck when you are able to Hunt (don't go low on ammo too ) wile I type this lines i also worry about the Encephalitys Spungiform (MCD)already found inUS Deer and some Canadian Moose ,Shoot the normal looking ones ,avoid shooting the ones that hop or walk like drunken cows .
I judge Thee!, Not for what you are , but for what you say !
