I have seen nunn mention this phrase, another guy,and just now Iconoclast just did.One of these guys once mentioned that G. Gordon Liddy says it.I am very much into Brit-Coms and various other Brittish programming, they don`t seem to push any liberal agenda the way the American stuff does.I am a fan of Rumpole Of The Bailie(sp?)and he refered to his ol` lady this way,on almost every episode.Where did this phrase originate??.218[This message has been edited by 218Beekeep (edited 12-24-2001).]

Well, the first time I saw this phrase was in the AHEM! magazines (the ones we don't let children read) concerning...ah..."power exchanges" and "Mistresses" and other... "interesting" variations on human...ah..."interaction". This being a "family" site, I assume you would rather I didn't elaborate to any great length. Hope this helps...

P.S. And since you mention British, I assume you are aware the British are generally recognized as being the best at...ah..."corporal punishment".[This message has been edited by .250Savage (edited 12-24-2001).]

Rumpole is the only place I've ever heard it, but I have used it for my wife since I picked it up there a long time ago.

Someone used it in a conversation or an eml sent to me & since it seemed quite appropriate for certain domestic situations, I willfully plagerized it. No clue of the true origin.

Yes, Rumpole refers to his wife, Hilda using that term. Never to her face, however. The reference is from the novel "She" by H. Ryder Haggard. The "She Who Must Be Obeyed" is Queen Ayesha of Kor.Mudge the font of "odd facts and useless information".
