Hey Nord - I saw on the "calling Jamestown" post that you are from Horseheads. I am in Nichols ... where do you work, hang out, whatever ?

At this stage of life anything hanging out is problematic. When it happens I use the "CRS" excuse, tuck whatever was out back in, and go on with what I was doing before I forget what it was.

In answer to your question... Not far from the airport in Big Flats.

Nice Triumph shop there in Nichols.

Hola Nord - Ya, nice Triumph shop. The owner was killed on one last year though and his wife may be closing it down, We were "neighbors" though not good friends. He was a retired NYS trooper, good man ... I do taxidermy here in Nichols, if yu are ever lookin to have sumpin stuffed (No pets orfamily members please). Guess Im kinda "*"uming you be a hunter ...

I too use CRS as an excuse on a regular basis ... too much HARD livin in the early years. Say "OUCH" alot now

    Taz -

Send your e-mail address to me at nordata@earthlink.net if you wish. I'll be more than happy to return a name and address. Fact is... I'll even spring for lunch sometime.

As for being a hunter... More like a walker in the woods that carries a gun from time to time. The hunt or kill offers little thrill, but being there with kids and dogs is wonderful!

And guns - I can appreciate without ever having to fire them. Just looking at some of my favorites is enough.

    Best Regards,

    Nord

    Tazmutt, Nord;
I lived in Ithaca for 4 yrs in the late 80's early 90's. Before winter gets here I plan on going visiting down that way. There used to be a pizza place in Ithaca with the best deep dish pizza money could buy. You guys game for lunch some saturday afternoon?

My father used to captain the MV Manhattan!! I like to cruise too. I'm up in Hamlin, just outside Rochester.

Im moored on the FAR north end of Cayuga, just south of the locks and minutes from 90. Would be an easy hook-up ! Boat will probably be coming out of the water end of Auguest tho, have to get ready for hunting season ... people bringin critters to have stuffed and I still have some from last year (ooooops - too much time on the boat) Let me or us know when you think you'll be headed this-a-way.

Let me know which is best for you and I will try to make it work. Have to explain to SheTaz that this would be an important meeting . Of course she would think it's just another reason to go drink some beer somewhere (hehe). I believe our schedule at this point is to be at the boat both of those weekends.

Nord, think you can make it ? (I think Nord is schleepin)

    Food??? You guys mentioned food???

Of course you know I'm a strict vegetarian, don't you? Fact is, most every steak and burger I consume comes directly from a cow!

I was in Branchport yesterday (northwest end of Keuka). A friend lost her elderly father to a drowning incident. Boats aren't completely strange to me as one of the things I do in my spare time is to tow sidescan sonar. Most of the time within a thousand miles of here, but as far away as Russia. Local trips find a big old Sea Ray in tow right behind the RAM diesel.

In any case I might end up spending a day or two on Keuka as a favor to the family. I sure hope not, but we'll see.

Taz, there's a nice place right up at the north end of Seneca right at the canal enterance. The name escapes me right at the moment, but we've had good meals there. And if no seagoing trips are involved there's Seneca Lodge in Watkins. I'm sure you're aware of others as I don't know the north end of Cayuga all that well.

And... No! I wasn't sleeping. I was resting! There's a difference, you know. Much like napping might be considered lazy in a youngster, it's a sign of wisdom at this stage of life. And I need all the wisdom I can get!

Gentlemen - Nord and Woods - Im afraid the cruise thing is not going to work. We have made plans for the last 2 weekends to have company on the boat. After Labor Day, ship is coming out of the water. I have a ton of work to do to get ready for hunting (stuffing) season so am giving up the boating early this year. Would like to meet sometime for general purpose chat. Throw out some dates ...

Nord - we cruised the Cayuga-Seneca canal a few time this summer, spent on night in slip at Seneca State Park, right across from the restaurant I'm sure your thinking of. Can't think of the name either and didn't stop there to eat. Did stop a couple times in Seneca falls and lunched at the Tavern on the Flats. Good chow !

Thats an idea of where we could get together, easy to get to from rt 5+20.

Turns out those weekends are going to be a problem for me too. Lots of pic-nics to cater. I know I'll be down before the snow flies though.

Taz, would you have any use for a couple ice cream novelty freezers. I have two small ones out in my barn. They do work and they do get COLD. A couple years ago I picked them up in an auction. I was going to let my family use them in the restaraunt, but, they don't need them. I'm just guessing that's how you keep things waiting to be done in your shop.
