Met a GB member today

NOTPOSTAL and I met today, turns out we only live about 30 minutes from each other, and yes he does work for the post office. It was really nice meeting someone I had a name for, but no face, and finally putting a face to the name. I must say, that if all members are as nice and great to talk with, its a shame we dont all have the time to meet at least one new member each week. It was a real pleasure meeting a GB member, and I look forward to meeting more of you in my travels. Since it was my first meeting of a GB member, it set a great precedent, and I hope all of you get time to meet other members who share in your interests. I think its the best 45 minute conversation I've ever had with a perfect stranger. Now when will that 7mm nut show up?

I have met a few members from GB. I have gotten together a few times with NJRETCOP at local gun shows. It is kind of neat placing a face with the name.

Have met Judge Colt, Idsman, Iramax, and Big Timber....all are wonderful people. Met up with Idsman at a couple of gun shows and we had dinner at an NRA event a week ago....great time! Would like to go to the fall gun show in Tulsa and perhaps meet some others.

We got together in Virginia, and got to meet M. Opalski, Tye, Ruffitt, Metz, Cowboy62, TLynn, and Whizbang. Some of those people have left this board but now use others that we visit. We are also planning to get together again in August in Michigan. It is great meeting people and putting a face with the name.

So far the only one I have met is Mudge, if you think he is fun to talk to on here, Y'all need to meet him in person.

I'm leaving for Little Rock tomorrow evening but I will be on a bus, the plans to take the car fell thru so I gotta Go Greyhound, this is going to be misserable, 3 transfers. One in Columbus Ohio, Pittsburg and Nashville. I also have about 5 layovers ranging from 3 hours to 45 minutes. I'm not due to hit Little Rock untill 9:00pm Sunday night.

Hopefully I get to meet Saxon, maybe some of his good nature and smarts will rub off on me.

Ryan, I really wanted to be able to stop by and meet you, I will have to try and stop while I'm in the truck sometime. I want to shoot that .454. I have a friend who is going to be going thru where you are in about another hour or so. he is just now at the "chicken coop" in Strafford and headed east. Run out to I44 and when you see a gold Freightliner pulling a white trailer that says TRL on it, give him the bird, he'll call me on the cell phone saying " I don't know what I did but some !@#!#@%% just flipped me off!"
Anyway, maybe we can hook up at Bass Pro Shops in Springfield sometime.

7mm, I feel for you, bro. Greyhound is tough travellin'. Rode it frequently once upon a time. Longest was from Baltimore, MD to Billings, Montana. By the end of that trip I was sure I had been to hell. Best of luck to you.

Darkstar, I may need to get me a bottle of Tylenol PMs for this trip!

Hey, you live in Dallas right? I have relatives in Grand Prarie and I sometimes stop in and visit them. I usually park at the Flying J on the South side of Dallas and they come pick me up. I even sometimes stop at that Rat Hole T/A in Mesquite, maybe sometime I'm in town for awhile we can hook up.

Thanks for the wishes, I'm definatly going to need help surviving that ride, almost two entire days away from GB, I'll go nuts!

Although I'm sure some on here will be glad of that!

We'll meet somewhere and have a good dinner or lunch or breakfast and if you have a little time we'll pop a cap or two!! We might even pop a groundhog!! That is if there are any left after the 17HRM gets around!! Sarge, you need the gun to shoot the bullets!!!! GHD

7mm, hope you have a safe journey.

Ryan, I have had the pleasure of meeting several GB folks in Harrisburg & Tulsa the last few months. Good bunch of people. I think this business of planning a meet around some of the bigger gun shows is definitely a great idea. Hopefully someday, I'll meet you and dano; it would be an honor.

GHD, when I get back from the first trip with this company, I will put the .223 in the truck and if I get thru there I'll get ahold of ya and we can go blast some piggies. I think an afternoon of waging war on piggies will be a great way to relax.

While I'm typing this, I hear gun shots outside somewhere. That is unusual in this town, sound pretty far away, maybe somebody shootin deer. Although at 10 till 1 they shoulnt be out bangin around with the rifles.

I think me and GHD will be meeting, since I'm going to NC in Sept., I should have no problem meeting up with him, hes close by. Too bad that the meeting some of you are having in MI is in August, I'll miss it by just days, I'm going home to see my family during the PCS move, its the only time I get to go home usually. 7mm, your life is going to be sucking on the bus, sorry to hear that. Maye I will make my way up to see you sometime, PA is on the way home to MI from NC, if I take my usual route.

I met Kimberkid at a pawn shop, nice guy, I don't care what you guy's say. I met 5db at Tulsa a couple of years ago, He's a funny guy. Also had some near misses at the same show. I am going down to Lawrence some time this summer to see if Interstatepawnllc is real or a figment of somebody's imagination. It's fun to put faces on people that you have talked to.

Ryan, in the "flinchies" thread I posted about have two cans of CAP STUN, as long as people leave me alone on that bus there won't be any problems! I also have a big 'ol bottle of Tylenol PMs to knock me out for the duration of the hell ride.

Icono, someday I'll get back up to "yankee land" and maybe we can bump inot each other. I used to go into Raymond Walmart alot but I havent see that place in awhile. NH, VT and ME are some beutifull states, problem is you gotta go thru Mass and CT to get there! , Well VT can be had going thru NY and cuttin thru the woods. There is somebody here that lives arounf Bangor ME, there is one heck of a eastin joint up there called Dysards, best food I have ever had the priveledge of paying for!

The Northeast isnt too bad, if you know where to look.

Stay away from large population centers where Liberals tend to congregate, stick to the smaller rural communities and you'll be fine.

Most of us Upstate New Yorkers still hate Hilliary and Chuckie. Too bad 3/4s of the population of the state lives in one very Liberal city.

Bullzeye- I know a few rural type New Yorkers who blame the cities for the Hillary fiasco. However, I think Hillary won just about everywhere in New York.

    Salzo:

There are still quite a few people out in here in cow country who are utterly disgusted she's representing our national interests.

Based on how many "HILLIARY GO HOME" bumper stickers on pickup trucks you see, you can usually tell if you've found one of the few sane refuges left in NYS

I spend quite a bit of time in upstate(actually more like central) new York, and I remember during the 2000 election I was amazed with all of the Lazio signs. I thought there was no way that witch was going to win-was certainly shocked when I heard she won every section in the state of New York.

Got an e-mail from ATF (not the Govt ATF) about a week ago. Come to find out he lives about 15 or 20 miles from me. I know him from some gun shows we've attended, but having a hard time placing his face with his name, Maybe I'll see him tomorrow at a small gun show here in Acton, Maine. Small World.

I live 25 miles northwest of Bangor. Just off I-95 exit 44 is where you'll find Dysart's truck stop. It does have one heck of a good job feeding a person without killing the wallet. Maine is a beautiful state, and we don't have to brush elbows with too many liberals, which makes it even more attractive!

Bull, I just realized you and ATF must live in Maine! I didn't know there was going to be a gunshow in Acton tomorrow! Just about the only one I get to go to anyway is the big one at the Bangor Auditorium. As a side note, if guns are responsible for killing people, how come no one ever dies at gunshows. With all of those guns, you'd think it would be the third world war!!

    Rob,
It's just a small show, not worth the drive from there. I have more guns in my collection than they had there.
Almost bought some land not too far from you last year in Sangerville.
There are some big bucks in that area. You just missed the Biddeford Show, that's always a good one. Can never leave there without buying something.

    Iconoclast,
Will sure do that, Like to have you come up here and visit the great state of Maine. I'm from Boston originally, 32 years ago, and wouldn't go back. This state has an awful lot to offer. I was tempted to move to either Montana or Idaho at one time, but I still like it here. I'll just keep taking my trips there.

I'll be keeping in touch with ATF and Rob in the future and see what shows they will be going to.
We don't have any good shows now until around Aug. 24, in Augusta which is a good show. Here is a list of shows from one promoter that I just received in the mail, and he does a damn good job with them.
    Where is your location?

    Aug 24-25
    Augusta Civic Center, Augusta
Aug 31-Sept1 --- Everett Arena, Concord, NH
    Sept 21-22
    Rutland Fairgrounds, Rutland, VT
    Sept 28-29
    Champions Fitness Club, Waterville, ME
    Oct 12-13
    Holiday Inn Expo, Manchester, NH
    Nov30-Dec1
    West Lebanon, NH

All of these shows are within 3 hours from me here in Shapleigh,ME.
    Most less than 2 hours.
Here is my e-mail address in case you want to get in touch.

    7mm nut,
If you don't get a chance to shoot Ryan's 454, you're welcome to shoot mine. Next time you stop at Hanscom's or Howell's truck stop, let me know when you're going to be there and I'll meet you. I'm only about 35 miles from there.
While you're there, you can stop at the Kittery Trading Post and drool over their large selection of guns, unless you have already.

Should you find yourself in the Rochester area I'd consider it an honor to buy lunch. As long as it's my mothers restaraunt where I get a big employee discount.

I've got to go to Akron next week, 6-17-6-27. Any of you guys going to be in the area or live around there? Let me know and maybe we can meet. It's a research meeting for me, looking at forage plots for livestock. Usually at the end of the day with these things I'm ready to kill something!!! I can't take my own guns this time though because I'm flying! If I drive you can bet that I'll have something to hunt with!! GHD

Well come on up Ryan. It would be my pleasure. Mom caters to little old ladies, so they have really good lunches. The french onion soup is awsome. We are known best for our home made pastries and desserts. Them little old ladies don't have to watch thier figures. Sometimes they even bring thier 20 something grand daughters. That always makes work a pleasure. I only wish the place could afford to pay me a wage I could live on.

salzo; just drop me a line next time you'll be up here.
