Here is something that was brought up on another forum I go to.
Name 10 things that you own that has NEVER been on a truck. Either in raw material form or finished product. Exclude children and pets.

One of the popular responses was, items growning in the garden. Where did the seeds come from ?

    Honesty,loyalty,pride,love,integrity,understanding,sensibility,humlity,caring,sensitivity,intelligence,my own destiny..to name a few.I know thats more than 10 but none were shipped by truck or any other mode of tranport:)I forgot one more my LAND!!

    But then he says one of the popular ones were plants in the garden,How did the seeds get there? therefore implying delivery by truck and either way the 10 I put I own have never been on a truck.AH HAH HA HAh HA HAH.

    10 things in my possession (that I own) that have never been on a truck -

    1) Venison (in my freezer). [And their antlers on the wall; should this count as two?]
    2) Fish that I caught (in my freezer).
    3) Wild geese (in my freezer).
    4) Ducks (in my freezer).
    5) Just to be fair, all the other wild game in my freezer, not breaking them down as to type.
    6) The water in my glass (from my own well).
    7) Fence posts made from using trees that I cut down on my own property.
    8) Gravel dug from a hillside on my own property, used on a driveway, brought home using the tractor bucket.
    9) Round bales of hay brought home using a tractor.
    10) Rocks picked from one of my fields, used in retaining wall, brought home using tractor bucket.
    11) I was going to continue, but since I know the point you were trying to make (a good point, by the way), I figured that I would stop at the requested ten.

    Woo-hoo, why don't we name ten things that ARE delivered by truck, but unless they were produced and had a market, there would be no need for a truck? Just two things that workers do which are delivered by truck are enough to kill trucking. I don't owe truckers a damn thing. Matter of fact, I don't owe anyone a damn thing as some convoluted "debt of honor" just because they were paid to do the job they were hired to do.
    Except for the military.

    Well my house and barn being built aprox. 1910 and being located accross and down the street from the old frieght depot, were probably never on a truck.

    I understand the point you are trying to make though.Your trade is very under appreciated in this country.

    BUT,, Let me throw this thought at you.
    The United States only imports something like 26% of it's oil from the middle east. If we took all the interstate frieght off of trucks and stuck it on the rails, how much of that oil wouldn't we need anymore? Wouldn't it be nice to be able to tell them to drink thier oil? I personally am tired of our supporting big oil companies by defending and protecting thier interests in the middle east. Also tell big industry to stick just in time delivery in thier butts. Let them build warehouses and pay taxes on them.
