Re-reading your old American Rifleman mags

I picked up the April 2000 issue of American Rifleman and realized I ought to do this more often. I've been asking lately about the recent run of "Jungle Carbines," for one thing, and on page 18 of the April 2000 issue found a very nice explanation of the whole phenomenon, including the Gibbs.
Then on page 50, a discussion of Springfield's Scout model of the M1A. I was saying recently that I like the Scout concept but on a semi-auto comparable in stability to the bolt action Mauser. Well, here's my wish granted. An 18" barrelled M1A Scout...
Add to that the article on new guns for 2000, which mentions the introduction of the Kimber CDP and the Taurus Millennium PT145, plus a review of the "new" economical Baikal over-under, and I wonder why I don't revisit these more often to see what I overlooked....
The 2nd Amendment is about security, not hunting. Long live the gun shows, and reasonable access to FFLs. Join the NRA -- I'm a Life Member.
