Anyone have any experience with these rifles? They seem priced reasonable. I am interested in the 45-70 or the nickel plated .308. Any wandering zeroes? opinions welcomed. Thanks swede

Wandering Zero is all I've heard about these, in both the Gibbs and the original configuration Jungle Carbine in .308 after about 3 shots. Haven't heard anything about the original chambering in .303 or 45-70.I had a Mark4 A2 Ishapore rebarrel .308 and it would do a 1.25 - 1.75 @ 100 all day long with iron sights & cheap CAVIM ammo.

I have been thinking about one for a scout rifle. I have heard nothing positive or negative thus far.

I placed an order for the quest II today. My gun smith was trying to talk me out of it because of its a rehab as well as the lack of a relief hole in the chamber in case of a primer blow out.
His case that it was made for a much lower pressure cartridge .303 and putting a much more powerful .308 might not be a good idea.

I placed my order anyway cause of its charming looks.

I've been playing with the 45-70 idea myself. Several years ago I was considering turning an old p-14 action into a 40/60 Maynard or 40/70 Sharp straight. They can be made from 303 brass fireformed straight. I've also considered doing a .405 winchester on a p-14. I don't think the SMLE would be up to that task though.
