    I'm not quite sure what you are looking for, but there are 43,560 sq. ft. in one acre. It's about 209 feet on each side if square, and there are 640 acres in a square mile. What else do you want to know?

    area

    triangle = 1/2 bh
    parrellelogram = bh

    with irregular shapes you can use calculus to figure out the area.

    An acre is 43,560 sq.ft.

    If you had a rectangular lot and knew the frontage and the acreage then you'd only have to multiply the acreage by 43,560 and divide that number by the frontage in feet to get the depth.

    Example:

    5 acres with a 400 foot frontage.

    43,560 x 5 = 217,800 square feet.

    217,800 / 400 = 544.5 foot depth.

    An irregular lot can be divided into rectangles and triangles and the side dimensions found by using trigonometry.

    Sperry- a "section" is a mile on each side; a "square" is what one uses to draft.
    There are 36 sections in a township; a township being 6 miles long by 6 miles wide.
    Townships are stacked on top of each other; ranges are sited next to one another, and are also 6 miles on a side ie: T29N R30E is a description of a location.

    HDW- a licensed Surveyor can help you with any area computations you need, and will likely be so impressed by your quest for knowledge that he'll be glad to help. We all use computers nowadays, and depending upon the software; you might be able to get more than you need.
