Member Posts: 1,213 ✭✭✭✭✭
Came home early today due to sinus and ear infection,I let the dogs out side and a few minutes later they were going crazy barking,It was 3 in the afternoon,I went outback and noticed getting ready to jump the fence was a coyote,I started yelling at him and he ran off,so I brought the dogs in
I called nunn and asked him if i bullets in my gun,,He said WHY????so i told him,as I was walking out to the pasture and sure enough he was coming back for more,so I fired he ran off just to turn back around and come back again,so I shot him again, missed, then I shot him again and got him in the back right hip,he jumped and ran off but the damn thing came back again and I shot him again,,missed and he finally took off.
this is the first time i have shot anything like that so I quess I need to get some more practice.
I dont like shooting animals but I dont want my dogs to get killed.

Here is the Key to the Shots and Misses. She really never wanted to kill the thing.
Just scare it away.
A lot of people would have hid in the house from the coyote but you chased it away, Lead A Flyin[8D]
In New Mexico that would be coyote, but you Texans probably have the short tailed version.
Texans figure the "e" at the end of a word means your english. "Tomatoe", "Coyote". Don

They do not pronounce the "e" up this way either. It's a yote...as in vote.
Last time there was a posting about shooting a coyote and not killing it, Nunn put this place in lockdown.

Don
preferably a shot gun[:D]
at least you didnt wound it. or the torches would have been lit and pitch forks sharpened[B)]
and take you Varmint hunting-[:D][:I][^] Gotta agree bet it was rabbid.
Yotes will try to lure pets (dogs) away to the pack by acting like "come play with me" once that happens it's over. Never the less, ya did good.
You are right, though. We need to put in some range time. The poor girl is a Yankee and therefore culturally deprived.
While she was on the phone with me, I told her where to find a loaded shotgun, but she wouldn't fetch it, thinking it would kick too hard.
I may have to check her out on a .22 autoloading rifle and tell her to go for a head shot only.
FWIW, I am not crazy about letting a wounded animal get away, but at least she kept it out of the yard and away from our dogs.
dawnie- Tell David you need a new .25-06 in a heavy barrel Rem. 700

+1[:D][8D][:p]
She was shooting a 3" Model 36 Smith & Wesson. She was also shooting it double action and one-handed, since she was holding her cell phone to her ear with the other hand. I thought she did good, considering it was the first time she shot this gun.

Yotes are worthless...I would not lose any sleep over it...
J frame....no place but Texas.
Your neighbors missin any mutts ?
With her posting so clear and all I'm surprised she did not
drill the critter through the heart.
Hell my city girl wife would have thought is was a stray dog[:D] She would not know a yote if one bit her in the *.[:o)][}:)][;)][:D]
Mine said there was a german sheppard in the yard. Funniest german sheppard I ever seen with long legs. I dusted it with the .308

We have them thick around here, but seldom will you see one...and even then only for a few seconds.
I WISH EVERYONE OF MY DAYS WERE LIKE THAT!! IT JUST HAS THAT SORT OF NEAT RING OF ANOTHER GREAT DAY>[:D][:D][:D]
Time for a .22 MAG rifle and 4X scope. A one pop drop.[;)]
Good effort Dawnie. He had to be rabid to keep coming back in the middle of the day.
ECC...... Yotes are not worthless, they make great targets.
I'd have to say if she was shooting a 3" Smith 36 one handed, double action, for the first time and hit it once thats not bad at all.
Next time, put the old man on hold, lay the phone down and use 2 hands. Dont feel bad if you kill one, there will be 20 to takes its place.
Good work Dawnie [:)]
i will try the rifle,i just dont like anything that kicks, cause to tell the truth I dont like pain,I have had one kick before and I am scared of it.
I called nunn and asked him if i bullets in my gun,
He said WHY????
Good cop answer![:D][:D][:D][:D]
Not too bad considering it was a 3 inch S&W 38 special. Tell David you need a nice new AR15.
