Went to the range today,it's been too long. The range membership has grow a lot and so has abuse of membership,or lack of. The range has implemented new enforcement of membership, and rules. There is a 15 minute safety/rules video you must watch before becoming or renewing membership. There are now electronic gates and you are issued a card. No more combination lock. There is a fee of $10 per guest with a member present.
We took out our personal protection service pistols.
Denise had her SIG p238,I had my KIMBER 3" .45,and we took our in home gun of a SIG 226 in 9mm.
My Kimber has been carried & left in condition one for over a year. It has been given inspections and wipe downs in that time but right back to and left in Cond.#1
Right out of the holster,I took the safety off & on numerous times, and jarred my shooting hand while holding the gun on target. The gun did NOT fire on safe, nor did the hammer fall on its own. The gun fired flawlessly and very accurately. It fed, fired, and ejected aprx 150 rounds. I was a proud and happy shooter.
Denise's .380 has also been in Cond.# 1 for same about of time. Hers is also taken from her purse and placed in a holster in the car and then back again on a daily basis. It is left in the heat/cold of the car during work hours.
She too did the safety on/off,jar her hand, ect. She also got positive results. Her gun performed wonderfully and she shot great.
The was one issue with her gun;
When she inserts a fresh, loaded magazine into the gun, with the slide locked back, ans slaps the magazine home, the slide releases on it's own and goes into full battery.
We have already searched the internet and to no surprise, half say it is normal, half say the gun is broke.
We have not yet stripped it for cleaning/inspection.
We also shot the SIG 226 9mm. It fed, fired, ejected flawlessly.
Was a really nice day. Had fun,and was on target. A great day.

Glad you had a fun day at the range![^]
Evidently nobody died. Don
Was some one suppose to???
We've lost 4 family members in the last month, Denises mom just two weeks ago. Today was kinda a break from that. Thanks for your contribution don.
Glad you had fun....I worked all weekend....[;)]
on the house? Labor of love,or work work?
The slide release is simply following the laws of physics. When you slap the mag home briskly you're stopping the frame of the gun but inertia keeps the slide release lever moving down and releases the slide. My Glocks have all done this from day one.

Got the gun cleaned, inspected, reassly, all is good. Put in magazine, and yep,did it again.
I'm pretty certain you nailed the answer.
the problem is and i have had it happen to me and seen it with others, it slams home and by a millisecond to fast it fails to strip that first round
but glad you had fun, and ignore don
yes as neodog pointed out, many guns will do this, and would be cool if you practiced it that way for a quick reload

Your the Donald Trump of GB now![:D]
My Glock pistols have always closed the slide/loaded a round when I slammed a new mag home too. Good observation and question though. Paying attention to the way the gun is operating could save you money, or more importantly your life some day!

You guys could come down here and shoot, place where I shoot ine can shoot over 1000 yards. It's safe, it's free and it's public. Just need your own portable shooting table and taget stands.
