I am sick and tired of this Elvis stuff- he's dead- get over it!
I'm old enough that I must say i enjoyed his movies, and I still do.
I wish people would praise the Lord as much as they do a man who simply was a average singer! Where are our priorities??
People are so weak, that they seek one man to make their lives worth something, and he only sang and rotated the ole' hipps.
Jesus saved us all from hell and he gets---- a shove in the closet!
Please- if you don't beleive in Jesus- Don't respond to this!
I was born in 1954- Been there- done that! I could tell you things that would set the lies to truth!
Do you remember the competition between the Beetles and Elvis on the radio? The Beatles won! But it was close! The Beatles and Elvis were marked as messingers of the Devil and we were going from "black and white TV" to color!
Elvis was a man- only a man and not a hero! You want to know what a hero is? It's the dad and Mom who love and care with all their hearts- their children, and see that their health and saftey is the most concerne. It is the sleepless nights when the kids/family is sick and you comfort that loved one and get them back to health. It's the Mom and Dad that work everyday to make a better life for the kids. The heros that should be praised are the Americans that work and try hard to make a house- a home. We Americans should praise ourselves that make this country great We are the unsung hero's. (I really like John Denver the best). Anyway!

It is true our society has a skewed vision of what we put on a
pedastal. I myself was born post Elvis by 2 months. I personally
prefer the Voice, Tom Jones over Elvis or the Beatles...not to start
contraversey. While I don't think any of them are the devil, I understand the frustration of those wishing to instill a little moral fiber into our youth. The stars they look up to don't seem to posess a lot of it, or at least don't display it. I firmly believe that most problems facing our society have a lot to do with the break down of the American family. If we don't teach our young to behave and adjust to reality, then who will? One example...(while this is clearly not the only problem in this case) why did the parents of Harris and Klebold, the kids responsible for Columbine, not know they were making bombs in the garage? Take an interest in your children and they won't have such a warped view of the world....
I know we were talkin bout Elvis...but I think this is an extreme of the same message...

    daddo;

Are you aware that Elvis won only 8 Grammys in his Lifetime - All for his Gospel Records.

I surprised you put people down for paying respect to a singer and then praise John Denver. Did he ever put out any Gospel albums?
I see you also praise yourself.

I can't beleive than there is some one who doesn't see the Phenomenon, the man made 31 Million dollars this year, 25 years after his Death.

I guess it's like Harleys; If I have to explain it to you, you wouldn't Understand.

I'm not a huge Elvis fan. I grew up in the fifties and sixties with his music but I liked his ballads a lot better than his so-called rock & roll. Hound Dog, All Shook Up, Jailhouse Rock and those style of Elvis tunes do nothing for me. One thing you CAN'T argue with, the man had an incredible voice. Right up 'till the day he died, even with all the abuse he'd dished-out to his body, he could sure as hell sing.

Sorry, I don't get the negative comparison between Elvis and God. So, people who still celebrate Elvis are screwed-up because they SHOULD be celebrating God??? Give me a break!!! That sounds like some kind of nut case, radical extremist, religious fanaticism.

Elvis was a deeply religious person himself, even though he had his heathen ways (like the rest of us).

I just found out Bela Lugosi died on the same day. The two had much in common toward the end of their lives. I say it's a good day to rent the ED WOOD movie and take a look. We've got Young Elvis and Old Elvis, somebody should play Dead Elvis!

Elvis would have come back if he'd held out. I'm old enough to remember how "out of it" he was during the hippie-dippie years, and that's when he started selling out to get a hit on the charts. Some of those songs were embarrassingly bad because they weren't true Elvis. If he'd just have bided his time and kept playing Vegas, maybe done a gospel album or two, he'd have come back in when the hippie fad died out. Too bad he died a fat dissipated drug-addict, not knowing the fans would've embraced him again in time.

But as for the current hoopla, with more fans than ever filing past his grave and holding up candles -- I think NOT!
