Just thinking

I rarely post (for quite a few years now) and the last few times have been to ask for prayers for my wife (and for those I am eternally grateful. She is hanging in there).
But this post is to say to the old timers here (you know who you are) that I still think of you often. Of the ones I met, broke bread with, went shooting with and even argued a bit with. Some of my fondest memories are of the meetups, discussions and even some of the arguments we had on here.
I see by perusing the names that a lot of the folks I "hung out" with here are no longer around, ah well, times change. And I see by the obit thread that some have passed on.
All of them are well entrenched in my memories.
I enjoyed the giveaways we used to have and the delight expressed by those that won and the gracious congrats given to them by those that didnt.
I remember the mass auction we held and that everyone so generously donated to in order that we could help some of the members that were hurting financially at the time. Dont think I will ever see the likes of that again. Even the GB admin staff donated.
Guess what I am trying to say is that even though people pass on or just pass thru sometimes they leave an indelible marek on you as a person. Most of the folks I knew when I was a regular did just that to me. And in doing so made me I think a better man in the process.
I just wanted to say thank you for all the great memories, friendships made. some I met and some I just new from the board but friends they were one and all.
May all of you enjoy long, happy lives and thank you again

Cool out, this evening, and the stars are shining. The smell of rain is still in the air. The locusts are singing in the trees, likely happy for a little moisture to go with their supper.
Takes me back to a time, when the locusts and lightening bugs were a prime source of entertainment. We spent endless hours looking for the locust shells, (who knows what we did with them), and of an evening, collected lightening bugs in a mason jar.
Mom and grandma would call us in, when they thought we had spent enough energy on our entomological pursuits, wash our faces and send us to bed. To dream the dreams of the innocents.
I remember them tonight, and I remember myself, lost these many years to worldly pursuits, and encumbrances.
God bless the innocence of youth. It is a sad thing, that we can't carry it with us always, like lightening bugs in a jar.
social secerity after they get out of jail? The court gave them access to our courts and consitution and they haven't set foot on the continatal US. Do we now offer all the rights of our bill of to everybody except United States for our own? According to the HLS and the Federal couurt that is the way of it.
Time to load up and get ready.
I have been a member for a many years just never posted , I was for a long time with the mind set I just would not fit in but found so many common interest I just had to jump in. ( I would guess some wish I had not started )
a lot of great people on this forum , I would like to meet some but time will tell.
so much good information and so many talented craftsman , information is shared and so much long distance friendships are formed along with the support when needed.
I share in the sorry of some and the joy of others . It feels like I actually know them , I care more about the well being of some of the members than some of my own family ( sad as it sounds )
like many more will add join in and share more time on the forum
Glad that you still think of us. I often wonder about people like you who have bailed, do you ever think about us boys over on GB forums?
Yes we have lost a lot of members, such as JoeAF1911, and others who have passed away.
Others, such as Freudian Slippers, have bailed, we only hear from her at Halloween, she is a master pumpkin carver, of all things. Also is an attorney.
She will post some pics of her latest carving just about every Halloween, otherwise, it is Auf Wiedersehen.
Nice to hear from you, glad you still think about us.
My brother who used to be in Alaska came to visit us last month, and we were talking about you and your wife, and how it was back then. And if I ever make it to his place (Oregon now) I will get a chance to shoot that rifle. LOL He said it is his favorite one.
Fond memories for sure.
Yes times change, as does the forum. Some good, some not so.
I still hang out here, after investing 16 years, I guess it ain't such a bad place. [;)]
You take care Mike, and take care of that lovely lady you have there.
