I will guess as normal the main players will not be caught
as they stated only the " low level " people who cared for the birds were found
It sad to see any one torture any animal

When I was stationed in LA(98-02) Cock fighting was legal. I went to one to see what it was about. Not pretty.

I think it was outlawed after I PCS'ed to Bragg.

There was a guy down the road from where I lived who raised Fighting Cocks. He had about 100 or so. I talked to him a few times and he told me he shipped birds all over the US.

A guy a mile down the road is raising fighting chickens right out in the open. He has a breeding house with hens and the cocks are kept in outdoor cages, like a dog house, open on the ends and covered with Tyvek house wrap. Nobody seems to care about this business.

I've known a bunch of Bird Battlers, looked at their websites, saw a couple fights, met a few breeders; those chickens are cared for & loved on right up to a week before the fight. After that, they either make soup or money.
Some exotic fighting birds are flat beautiful, the colors & body styles are much more interesting than the domestic breeds I've seen.
But it's like slave gladiators fighting to the death, if you anthropomorphize things like that.
    Legal, illegal; it's chicken!

I wonder how many kids that had dealings with chickens, kept the yard and worked the birds, are in prisons.

I had some breeders, played around the yard without steel,my son learned a lot about life from the chicken pen.

I've seen them with collars and logging chains.

He's breeding 'show' fowl, just ask him... what happens after he sells he has no say about. Purebred Chickens can be big money, I've saw one breeder they were asking over $100K for [:0]
    (stags usually sell for $1000-$1500)

That is really sick, raising these birds to torture and destroy one another.

Human beings are some sick animals. This stuff is disgusting to me, right up there with bullfights.

I had a buddy who did some time in a Federal Prison in south Georgia, he told me that there were 4 guys in there doing time for cockfighting.

Ain't nobody said anything about how chickens are treated over at Tyson's where they're hung upside down by their feet and sent down a conveyor to be beheaded and gutted for everybody to enjoy for their Sunday dinner. [}:)][:D][:D]

I watched to roosters yesterday fighting. Had to break them up before one ended up dead.

    They do it naturally.

What chickens and roosters? I'd say their pretty much the same no matter how you kill them.

You all sound like the soccer moms that hate hunters that kill poor old Bambi but will chow down on a big cheese burger and think nothing of it.

Exploiting an animal to eat is one thing,(apple) exploiting an animal for one's perverted bloodlust,(orange)is quite another.

    BTW, soccer blows.
