They attack a cargo ship with a security detail and get lit up.

I would love to be a security guard on one of those boats. I would like an M14 and lots of ammo.
Two months ago I was offered this line of work. Two weeks training in TX then a six month stint on a merchant vessel. Pay offered was substantial, 70 dollars an hour but shifts are 12 on 12 off 7 days a week, living quarters stark at best. You are a subcontractor so no bennie's either. I thought hard on it but at 55 I passed, 20 years ago, hell yeah!

What was the name of the company? Might be something to look into.
(But you're 100% correct. Understated, if anything.)
Bring your sunscreen!!! I'm sure this job ain't all it's cracked up to be!! Probably weeks and weeks (maybe even months or years) of boredom beyond comprehension, baking in the sun, or staring into the black of night. All followed by "maybe" (just maybe) an actual encounter with real pirates, 90% of which will probably run away with a couple warning shots...then back to the monotony. Living conditions (as noted) are probably about next to awful, and the crews of these ships are all 3rd world nationals. Gruel for breakfast, lunch and dinner and probably weeks spent anchored in ports.
Looks fun and glamorous when you see a shooting video, but these are probably the highlight of several months of nothing-ness and isolation!
That doesn't sound much better than the U. S. Navy.
I think they killed more fish than anything. Maybe they need the pirates to get a bigger boat so they can hit the damn thing.
If you look at the 20 - 30 second range, you can see where he is capable of hitting a much bigger ship. Looks like 2 or 3 rounds are deflected by the small gunwale strip on his own vessel.
