Mamas Day

Heard an add on the way into work this morning.
'...we realized that the Mother's Day cards currently available were generic, and excluded those who are different.'
So a generic 'Thanks, Mom' is exclusionary?
Is not Mothers' Day about being a mother? When did it become about being a HappyMother, or a Trans-Mother, or a Muslim Mother?
I would wish anyone a Happy Mothers' Day based upon the fact that they are a mother, but have no interest in modifying the message to address anything different about you.
If you want to be treated in the same manner as we treat everyone else, graciously accept a generic greeting. Most of us are content with a generic greeting and don't feel the need to request that anyone change how they interact with us because of how we self-identify.
I would hazard to guess that most people really don't care what you do in private, and will meet you were you are at. I would also hazard to guess that when you wear a fallopian tube-sock on your head to proclaim how different you are, most us won't make the effort to meet you at all.

And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
