taxijohn.....If you've got an Arlington Ordnance carbine, who knows, I might have put the thing together. Used to do some carbine and Garand work for them.Like my old Granny used to say...."Anything mechanical, give it a good bash!"Don't be afraid to give it a "good bash".Sometimes those rifles have had the sight in place for 50 years. If there was nothing wrong with the sight during the "rebuild" we wouldn't touch it. They can get pretty well locked in with dirt, rust, etc. Keep trying.Once you break that first barrier, it should slide right out.Mudge the armorer

well I notice four small imprints, I mean tiny, They seem to be holding it still, kind of like hitting the edges with a puch to make it bend in to hold it. I might try heating it up a little, then tap the hell out of it.

I knid of wondered that myself pig. Kind of hard to shoot at 100 yards without a scope. So figured, what da heck, ya know.

I have tried that scope mount you are about to install....My advice, stay with the Mil sight, you'l be happier.I was NOT impressed with the stability of that model carbine scope mount. Now, I would really like to try the forward mount 'scout' rifle configuration. That looks like a winner.

you know you are probably right. there is just this small peice that fits in where the rear sight sits. I think you might have opened my eyes to a problem.
