Dr Pepper gets trashed over patriotic can Plano, Texas-AP -- Dr Pepper has received thousands of e-mails about a soda can that some people object to -- not for what it says, but for what it doesn't say.The can was created after the September eleventh terrorist attacks and has been sold in a dozen states. It depicts the Statue of Liberty with the words, "One Nation ... Indivisible."Some consumers are unhappy that the company, in taking a phrase from the Pledge of Allegiance, left out the words "under God."Students at the private Bible Baptist Academy in Dubuque, Iowa, have started a letter-writing campaign to persuade Dr Pepper/Seven Up Incorporated to change the can.A spokesman for Dr Pepper, which is based in Plano, Texas, says the company has received 12-thousand e-mails. Some people need to let what doesn't truely matter, slide. In other words, "GET A LIFE!!". Who gives a F$$K what a damn soda can says. DRINKING TIP: Drop a shot of Amaretto in a mug of beer and it tastes just like Dr. Pepper w/ booze in it!! Cool huh?

Hans,I'd respecfully disagree....average Americans are fed up with political correctness that has run amuck...while there is little we can do about most of it, here is an opportunity to draw a line in the sand and send a message....I'm proud of the kids that got this started, shows that a few know where this country's origin's came from....

Well I respect religion and all but to argue what some "bleedin'-heart" liberal, ultra-P.C. ad-exec prints on a soda can seems to be "flavor of week" soap-box that will soon be forgotten. But I guess Iowa gets pretty boring in the winter.(No disrespect intended of course)

Uh, the last I knew I was, In short the point I'm trying to make is that religious groups who are serious might try to find something a little more.... critical, lets say. Granted they are children; and yes, it is good to see conviction demonstrated like this. With that in mind I hope the next time they find something signifigant to pi$$ and moan about. Maybe they shold move to the D.C. area.

There are a couple of manners in which DR. Pepper could respond and come back very well. O-N-E N-A-T-I-O-N = 9 I-N-D-I-V-I-S-I-B-L-E = 11 (9/11). It's symbolic! Then look at it from a Christian perspective. The word "God" would be printed on a can that is thrown on the ground and into the garbage. What a disrespectful manner in which to treat the name of God. Symbolism and respect. Those are two very good reasons that DR. Pepper should state in their response.

Float 151 on top of the Amaretto, light it on fire, let it roast for 2-3 seconds, THEN drop it in the beer.

AntiqueDr--It was with those beverages that you just described that I was initiated into my first unit at my first duty station. Then they made me do pushups until I blacked out.

Doesn't bother me. When I grew up it was "one nation indivisible......" The "under God"was substuted much later, maybe when the hand over the heart replaced the salute.

V35 the hand over the heart replaced the salute during WW2. The flag salute was too similar to the Nazi Heil Hitler salute so it was changed. The "under God" in the Pledge was inserted by none other than JFK.

Badboybob; just a note. The insertion of God into the pledge was done in 1954 under President Eisenhower. The following year "In God We Trust" was required on all coin and currency. H.R. 1693, 83rd. Cong. 2nd. Sess. (1954).

When I drink Dr. Pepper, it's "under God"! I wished they would have put it on the can so it would be a direct quote, but they probably were trying to avoid this whole debate. You can't please all of them. The best Dr. Peper in the world is bottled at Dublin, Texas. It is the oldest Dr. Pepper bottling plant in the world, and they bottle Dr. Pepper made with 100% pure sugar, one a week. When you buy a bottle, it's in glass, not plastic. Ummmm', good stuff!

This complaint started from the idea that the Pledge of Allegiance was altered to remove the religion from it. By that argument, does anyone use "All" laundry detergent? I think that company does not believe in liberty or justice. How could they take "with liberty and justice for all" and drop the part about liberty and justice? Doesn't Pepsi think we are a nation? If so, then why does Pepsi One stop with the word "one" and not say "one nation"? It's a conspiracy I tell ya.

I think the ad worked anyway, good or bad, they're getting a lot of attention. Hire that advertising agency. You know this'll really set some of you on fire, but....I dont really give a !@#@ whats on the money, money is a filthy evil thing according to most religions, and I'm surprised one denomination or another hasnt been @itching that the government has affilitated money with religion. God this whole country is a bunch of biggots, hypocrites and a$$e$. On any given day some moron will complain about soemthing that didnt bother him a bit 2 weeks ago when his own family was doing it. I personally think they should make all the money say In 'what ever President of the U.S. is currently in office' we trust, after all, isnt that what we have done, elected someone we supposedly trust? This is just me spouting off against idiots, dont take it to heart, I could care a less. I know what I believe in, and I dont need it written on a can or dollar bill to remind me, just because it seems the cool thing to do this year. Man, I'm going to change my signature to Gruntled-II.

hans grueber, maybe that's why they call it a Dr. pepper shooter huh? I like those myself. now, take a Jigger (double shot) glass and put in a shot of ameretto and a shot of 151 rum. Light it, blow it out and shoot it. MMMMMMMMM call it a snake bite.I find with religious groups (I mean the fanatics) that they lack some of the wherewithall to deal with all facets of modern life. That's why they cling to the facade of a higher power which ultimately controls their every action. Who cares what the can said, it was an attempt to support the nation in a time of need.
