with a bull barrel, harris bipod, and a simmons aetec scope for 375, with the box. Gun is in mint condition. Picking it up next weekend. Guy was carrying it around at the show yesterday. I got his number because I didn't have enough cash on me. Called this morning and said he didn't sell it and if I was still interested, it was mine.Uh, hell yeah. He told me he bought the gun a few years ago and needed the cash. I am going to his farm to test fire it before I buy it. I think I got a great deal. Also bought a really nice double gun tactical case yesterday, with a shooting mat. 80 dollars. They were 129.00 on the internet.

Personally, I wouldn't have gone over $370 without the box. [;)][:D]
I thought all those high-power killing weapons were illegal in NY?
John is in NJ.
I love the 22-250!! [8D]
Sure hope it ain't shot out. Though, even if it is it would still be a pretty good deal. Ain't nothing to have a new tube screwed on.
What is the average life of a 22-250 barrel?

3-4k. A rifle that has seen the heat and speed of battle on a prairie dog town will go quicker than a rifle used in eastern ground hog fields. I figure my one VLS has a little over 3k through it and it's starting to show in the groups it shoots.

Mine as well.
The "rule" that was developed (by who I don't recall) is that a barrel NOT exposed to long hot strings of fire, should last 40lbs of powder.
That being said, a 22-250 running 38.5gr of H380 will yield 181rnds per pound of powder (7000grs). and therefore should get 7240rnds of useful life. However, this is all dependent on what the definition of "useful" or "accurate enough" is to the owner. I have heard of the military testing some .308 rifles and getting 6-8k rounds while still holding MOA. Those were obviously NOT exposed to long strings of fire. And then again the parameter set for "acceptable" accuracy was MOA
I would tend to agree more with FrancF and RobOz in relation to the life of a 22-250 barrel. Now, on a dog town,..maybe 1500 rounds tops, for a hot chambering like the 22-250 or 220 swift. Unless you have the patience to allow the barrel to cool between several shots, I know I don't, so I would be needing 2 new barrels when I got home[:D]
