Anyone know where I could find a bottle at a reasonable price? I got a buddy coming home from his second deployment and we have always talked about trying a bottle, but I am not going to pay what it is going for on the secondary market.

good luck. It comes out once a year and is already sold before it even makes it to the stores.

You'll have better luck finding unicorn steaks.

I got 10 bottles for the whole year this year. I am one of the largest accounts in the state also. Most places got one bottle, if they were on the allocation list at all. If you want Pappy, you need to find a high volume store, and place your name on the waiting list starting at the end of sept or begining of oct, as is comes out in nov.

if you lived closer, I would just tell you to bring your friend by the office. I peeled these two off for myself, however I still have to pay for them before they leave the office.

Yeesh $400-$3000 depending on the age. I like whiskey but not enough to spend that kind of coin. I'd buy a great bourbon in the $50 a bottle range and some Padron 1926, Fuente Opus X or Liga Privada cigars and have a stellar time.

It will be NO SOONER than next November. That is when they release the entire year's supply to the wholesalers. If I don't remember, remind me.[;)] Bourbons are the NEW growth category. The craft and small batch whiskeys are becoming very highly sought after, and therefore, expensive. I have some that I only get 3 bottles a year, and they are kept in the showcases. I had a 35+' showcase built for things like this.

You can still find Remy Martin Louis XIII (for now). If your friend is a whiskey guy, see if you can find a smaller size of that,...it is amazing. The whiskey actually evolves the longer it is in the snifter. He will be very grateful for a glass of that, and you won't be too sorry either[:D] you can also search for Hennessey Paradis, or Elija Craig 23yr, or George Dickel barrel select or Rye, or even the Bulleit 10yr or Rye. All outstanding whiskeys[8]

I had some George Dickel & Elijah Craig at the Seven Grand which is a whiskey lovers paradise in downtown Los Angeles. Nothing short of amazing whiskies both of them. Four Roses also makes great stuff. For scotch I like Oban.

I've been fortunate to be able to sample a lot of whiskey. If you can get Pappy 12 at retail it's worth it. It's not worth the gray market price. The only Pappy I haven't tried is the 15 year. The 20 is by far my favorite. Something a little easier to find and IMO better than Pappy is Jefferson's Presidential Select 18 year.

The bigger liquor stores sell it by lottery out here. I've yet to even have my number drawn.

Those prices are 5X or more than what I sell it for. I bet they would love for me to tell the customers what they actually pay for it.[}:)]

It has been said that I'm a fair shot, and a damn good judge of fine whiskey. I will say that Pappy Van Winkle is the very best Bourbon whiskey I've ever wrapped a lip around. But, it's not worth the black market asking price.

You might be able to afford some from JustC. It would appear that he is about the only honest seller in that business.

Kind of interesting. 3 bottles of 10 year equals 1 bottle of 20 year. Would be fun to try it sometime.

unfortunately I won't know what I have until November 2015. Pappy is only released once per year, and you only get what the distributor lets you have. It is a highly allocated product.

I have a smidge of 20 year left.

I can check my place, they typically have it available.

Maybe the 23, which will fetch $500ish.

You could go after some Elijah Craig 23 and spend the money saved on a couple great cigars.
Half of the lives they tell about me aren't true.
