Anyone know where I could find a bottle at a reasonable price? I got a buddy coming home from his second deployment and we have always talked about trying a bottle, but I am not going to pay what it is going for on the secondary market.

Yeesh $400-$3000 depending on the age. I like whiskey but not enough to spend that kind of coin. I'd buy a great bourbon in the $50 a bottle range and some Padron 1926, Fuente Opus X or Liga Privada cigars and have a stellar time.
You can still find Remy Martin Louis XIII (for now). If your friend is a whiskey guy, see if you can find a smaller size of that,...it is amazing. The whiskey actually evolves the longer it is in the snifter. He will be very grateful for a glass of that, and you won't be too sorry either[:D] you can also search for Hennessey Paradis, or Elija Craig 23yr, or George Dickel barrel select or Rye, or even the Bulleit 10yr or Rye. All outstanding whiskeys[8]

It has been said that I'm a fair shot, and a damn good judge of fine whiskey. I will say that Pappy Van Winkle is the very best Bourbon whiskey I've ever wrapped a lip around. But, it's not worth the black market asking price.

You might be able to afford some from JustC. It would appear that he is about the only honest seller in that business.

unfortunately I won't know what I have until November 2015. Pappy is only released once per year, and you only get what the distributor lets you have. It is a highly allocated product.
Have a good weekend,

I can check my place, they typically have it available.
Maybe the 23, which will fetch $500ish.
You could go after some Elijah Craig 23 and spend the money saved on a couple great cigars.
I have a smidge of 20 year left.
