Opening on our hunting Lease - Interested?

We had a guy (actually 2) drop off my hunting lease in Georgia.

One got a lease closer to home and took the other guy with him.

Anyway if anybody is interested in getting on this lease, shoot me an email or if you have any questions.

A quick synopsis of the lease- 300 acres w/house to stay in. Swamp, Planted fields, Clear cuts and Old Growth along with some Bottomland hardwoods. Basically a little something for everybody[:D]

$500 per year includes lease and all utilities. Yes the house has electric and water and heat and air (air in the bedroom only).

Lease is normally 5 or 6 guys but right now only 3 are on it.
Plenty of deer and we have food plots planted. The fields currently have cotton planted but could have rye or wheat or maybe nothing come season. If nothing it makes the food plots (peas mostly) a prime hunting area.

Ok, thats the sales pitch[:p], let me know if you are interested.

    Juju,

Just curious, how does that lease work with 5-6 people on it. Is each one restricted to a certain time during the season they can hunt? Or do all share and if you get there when someone else is there it's just part of the thing? Who pays for the planting, who pays for the house expenses? (electric & such) Are there 'house' rules?

I'm dense. 'Splain it a little more for me please.

Powder, no restrictions on when you can hunt. About the only time everybody is there is opening week and thanksgiving. Last year I made 5 trips and on 3 of them I was the only one there.

The $500 covers all costs, the food plots we split as we sometimes put 1 and sometimes 4 plots out. It runs about 30 bucks or so a person.

When we are all "there" at the same time we pretty much have different places we like to hunt so its not a problem. Never seen any conflict over who gets to hunt where as its all good for deer.

We have a good time when we are there together, we share the cooking and cleanup once in a while go to "town" to eat in the small resturant nearby.

We have some leaners in place and most of us put a leaner up or a climber during the season. There is a tripod stand there and I use ground blinds most of the time. If you put a stand up and you are there you get first call on your stand if you are not there or are not going to hunt your stand then someone else can use it.

But with only 3 of us on the lease right now its pretty much wide open.

During Bow and BP season My friend and I are the only ones who hunt.
As for house rules- no drugs and no drunks, drinking is allowed in moderation. Thats pretty much it.

Bein a Yank I just gotta ask...is this how it is down thataway mostly?I've no idea really and frankly bein from here I can't imagine paying to hunt, then again,it certainly makes sense when you start thinking about it.Is the lease just for deer season,it starts and stops then or can ya go do small game, assuming there is some? longhunter, I live in florida and I will not hunt public land here. Too many frigging drunks, dopers and idiots in the woods.

Leasing land is the only way (unless you have a friend or own it yourself)to assure a safe quality hunt and the deer are bigger(for the most part) in GA.

And yep, we have plenty of small game, rabbit, dove, quail, tree rats(squirrels) and lots of turkey as well as deer and some hog.

Lease is open year round though most of us only hunt deer season.

We also have varmits such as raccons, moon barkers(coyotes) and others.

Its a fairly rual agricultural area.

JuJu (wishing he owned enough land to hunt on)

    Juju,

What part of GA? I don't live in GA anymore (and miss it everyday) but my Dad does and might want a place to hunt. He lives in Columbus. Thanks!

dustohol, Lease is about 10 miles west of Plains, Georgia, you know, Jimmy carter country.

Coonass, I ask the folks here because I dont know anyone here in Florida I would want on the lease and I know we have hunters here who might want a chance to hunt somewhere different.
I know a lot of folks who want to get on the lease but I dont want them on it. Not the kind of people I want to hunt with. Most of the folks here even though I havent met all of you I think I would enjoy hunting with. Thats why I posted it here.
As for guests, generally we dont allow guests. I have special dispensation to bring Powdersmoke and 7mmnut this year to hunt with me as guests. The reason we dont generally allow it is we had a member once who was "bringing a guest" several times a year and we found out he was charging his "guests" to hunt. That dont fly, needless to say he is no longer a member. That was a couple of years ago.
Liscenses are expensive, bout $217 for deer and small game, a little more for Turkey,Duck furbearers and if you want BP and bow season.

The limit is 12 deer a season. 2 Bucks and 10 does.

JuJu (ask anything you like, I dont mind answering questions about the lease or why we do/dont do certain things)

Coonass, I think (pretty sure) that your 12 year old can accompany you if you hunt the same blind/stand (both of you can have rifles and hunt but in the same location). I also think that he does not have to get anything but the basic GA hunting liscense which is about $30(dont quote me) that means he does not need the $117 big game stamp.

If your interested I can dig up my lease rules and check, but I am pretty sure that correct, he does not pay for a membership untill he is 16. At that time he is required to have all valid GA permits and would have to be a member to hunt.

I can give you a link to a aerial view of the property if you like.

JuJu (would love to see some of you guys on the lease)

Is there a lot of poaching on the lease when your there or not there that you know of........

What type of ag fields are those ,,, are they on the lease or just border it........

Can the house be used on the off season for the whole family as a few day get away........

7mm, dont know about the dog? I will check and see but probably not.
Besides, at my age after hunting all day when I get back all I want to do is eat, shower, sit a spell and go to bed[|)].

Though I wouldnt mind a bit of * hunting, sounds like fun, just dont want to * any deer by running around the woods at night.

    I'll let you know.

Juju, unless the deer are spooky it won't bother them much. We see deer all the time while out and the dog ingnors them and the deer usually don't go far to get away and will return. You havent experianced a rush untill you walked up on a treeing dog!

Juju interested in lease if still available. Lease I have been on for 10 years sold out so would like to find a decent lease.
So far yours sounds good. just a few questions.
    Are there any trophy restrictions?
How many deer killed over last few years?
    Are neiboring properties leased?
Is dog hunting allowed in area or is restriction lease rule?
