Remington 700 Sendero

I am debating between a few firearms for an upcoming purchase in the next couple of months. One that I am considering is a Remington 700 Sendero in .300 Win Mag. In your opinion, should I consider the one with the matte blue carbon steel barrel or the stainless fluted barrel?

I'm holding out for a stainless .338 UM myself. Get the PSS in 300 WM, it has a full length bedding block instead of the action length one in the Sendero. I love all 3 of mine.

idsman75 - You said the 700 Sendero is one of the rifles you're considering. What are the others? I bought a SS Sako 300 UM earlier this year. Maybe I (or others) can help with your decision since I probably went through some of the same things with my decision. Maybe not.will270win - 338 UM ? That will be fun to shoot off the ol' bench rest. Hahaha.

Don't worry, Bee, they never think 'bout my namesake either...snuffle, snort. Can TOO reach out to 3-400 yds, just like them big, noisy ol' thirties! Ya big bullies!

Anybody remember the movie Harlem Nights? The scene where Arsenio(whatever) and the boys are trying to shoot Eddie Murphy? There was this guy with the little dinky gun and after Arsenio and the other quit shooting the other guy shot his little popper? Ok I'll be nicehehehe

I would NOT go with the fluted barrel. Removing any barrel metal is just going to weaken it, and it might screw up accuracy. Yes, it will help the barrel cool a bit quicker, but I don't think you'll be sending one down range that fast.

I appreciate the input. I'm considering one of several different purchases which don't resemble one another in any way whatsoever. I was thinking about a SIG 226, a KNIGHT muzzleloader, or a Remington 700 Sendero in .300 Win Mag. I need to discipline myself so I will only be getting one. I have several handguns but I'd like to extend my hunting season in Iowa where modern rifles aren't allowed for deer so I'm stuck between the KNIGHT and the Sendero. The Sendero isnt a muzzleloader but I believe I am in the middle of swinging an EXCELLENT deal on an excellent condition used KNIGHT.[This message has been edited by idsman75 (edited 01-02-2002).]

Idsman, E-mail me and I can probably get a friend of mine to get you a good deal on any of the guns you listed.

I have a Sendero in 25-06 and love it, I plan to buy a 300 First chance I get. I like the matte over the stainless anyday of the week. I dont really see any benifits for the type of shooting I do and the matte with a harris bipod and nice matte scope looks good.

Mine groups one ragged hole at 100yds. (sendero) It will shoot under 1" at 200 and does extremely well at longer distances. It is one of the finest out-of-the-box guns I have seen or shot in YEARS. I will buy every one that I feel is a good deal when I see them. How's that for a testimonial.
