well sat went out and shot my new[to me] win.243 sat. morn.this is a 700 with a bull barrel. best i could do was three touching holes at 50 yrds. with that bull barrel there was so little kick i and my son were both amazed. also shot the 35 rem. marlin i got several weeks ago. this one has a kick. shot a perfectly round hole right through a 1/4" plate steel and splintered the back side of an 8" old r/r tie. i had no idea the 35 rem was that powerful.using 150gr rem soft point bullets. i wonder what it will do with the 200gr i bought? anyway my son and i had a ball in the 3 hr. we could steal away. anybody have a set of dyes they want to get rid of real cheap?     natchez has rcbs dies for approx. $20. A hand load is definitely in order, as the 700 in 243 with the bull barrel should be one hole at 100 and 150yds.

    You did'nt even challenge that 35 with a 1/4" plate. I used my contender(16" barrel) in 35 rem to shoot at 3/4 plates and it would penitrate enough to dimple the back side.

    justc: got an addres or email for naches?i never heard of them. when you shake as badly as i do its hard to get one hole groups at any distance. i just cant hold it that steady any more.offerer: if that 35 will go through 1/2" plate what the heck will it do on whitetail? could probably kill two of them with one shot if standing behind oneanother.anyway i am happy with what i got and am going to pay for and keep the 243 considering i only owe uncle sam 380.00 this year[more than i already paid].
