Varmit Scope Test

I purchased the following scopes this morning.

Leupold Vari x III 6.5-20x40 AO $462.00
Weaver Grandslam 6-20x40 A0 $309.00

Both scopes are very nice, and fit and finish is perfect.
If I were to purchas another one at this point it would be the Weaver hands down. The quality of these optics are simply amazing. The clarity is on par with the finist german optics, "at least as my eye's can tell. The only concern I have is the warrenty and customer service. Anyway to thumbs up for both scopes with the weaver placing first due to price point!

Hey I have both scopes also but the leupold is the 3.5x10 for the deer gun.I see almost no differance.The weaver really brings in the light but the leupold looks better

I purchased mine though a local dealer "chaffins gun & bow" in atoka oklahoma. They beat the internet price I found at bear basin and they are good folks. They do make a model 800475 4.5-14x40 that will run around $299.00.

gunnut: thanks for the info , I 'll try to find a dealer in my area that has one and take a look see, I want to find something better for my Marlin 17vs but i don't really thing I need to go up to a 20 power, I think that would be to much for the gun. thanks again

Weaver also makes a 4-14x tactical scope with hash mark reticle and target knobs. Damn nice for the money.

A great rifle with a junk scope,....is junk.
