Anybody familiar with this little rifle? Looked at one today in 243 for my son, and it impressed the heck out of me. Same LOP as the remington youth model. It was $50 more than remington (both in 243) but the ruger came with scope mounts, had a beautiful laminated stock, and was stainless. List was $459. I am not familiar at all with ruger rifles (other than the 10/22). Good or bad? Some opinions please. Thanks.

Okay guys,I have a heavy barrell Ruger .243 that I let my brother-in-law borrow to go to deer hunting. When he came back there was mud on the barrell. When we cleaned it off the bluing came off. I really like him so I didn't b*&^%h too much. My question is, do you think Ruger can put the TARGET GRAY finish on this gun? I really like that finish. [8D]

I have the old tang safty mod.77 that you have to put in the fire poss. to unload it, can the safty be changed out or fixed to where you dont have to put it in fire mode to unload it [?]

Hey guys I need some info

I got a ruger m77 30-06 with the tang safty this past deer season love the gun but not not sure on one thing and have not had a chance to carry it to a gunsmith
to work the bolt you have to take the safty off which makes me feel a little uneasy

I have had another m77 but it was not as old as this one and the safty
did not have to be off to work the bolt.
is this right on an older 77 or is something wrong with it
it shoots great I just have to be extra careful when loading and unloading it.

I will say the Ruger Model 77 is one of the best all around Rifles there is.Not just because Im partcial to Ruger,I like the Remington as well. But I would opt for the Ruger any day over te Rem Model 7 or 700.I do have to say that the Rem Model 7 may feel better to your son.I would let him decide.

    Best!!

I have a M77 MKII in .30-06 and it is great! I've gotten 4 deer with it so far, never missed. I think it is a quality firearm for the price!
