i am looking for a tactical scope to put on either a remington pss or a savage tactical 10fp le. i am fairly new to the scope world and don't know much about them. what do i need to be aware of? what are some options i might want to look at? where can i do some research.

thanks

There are tactical scopes for the $700 range and then on up to $1100-$1500 range. You want (and these are only my preferences), large target knobs with graduated markings, a 30mm main tube, and a crisp side focus knob which is large enough to grasp with a glove on. Buy one made by a reputable company, like leupold mark IV, schmidt and bender, or night force, zeiss, etc, if you wish to spend the money. If the $700 -$800 dollar range is more in your comfort zone, then go for the leupold tactical, or take a look at Burris Black diamond with target knobs etc.

You are looking for the highest quality lens coatings, precise reticles, and the absolute tops in crosshair adjusments with the ability to return to "zero", after multiple adjustments for shots at varying distances. However, if you buy one of the better one's, it goes without saying,.. you will get these features. But, think about how much you will shoot it, at what distances, and for what purposes. Once you buy one of the high end tactical scopes, they are hard to get your money out of on resale if you decide you don't use it enough.
just my .02, ....oh yeah, and my signature too

A great rifle with a junk scope,....is junk.
