Ever see the movie A Beautiful Mind where Prof. Nash thinks he has a chip embedded in his wrist and tries to dig it out with his fingernails? I hope that's not me in the future. Unless they have some kind of knock-out gas, the only way they're putting one of those chips in me is after they pry the gun out of my cold dead hands. They say these things will be "voluntary" but how voluntary can they be if an entire security system is built around them? The whole idea smells. My wife says it's right out of Revelation.

Yeah, Antique, I get the joke, even though I've never seen one. As I said a couple of weeks ago, that would not be the name I would pick for a rifle.

I'm glad that this story aired, but it irks me to think that it would not have unless CNN thought that it was "entertaining" as Cafferty says. It was not aired because it involved a distinguished hero but for its entertainment value. Otherwise we would not have heard about it like the other non-entertaining important news we do not hear. CNN deserves the E-mail for airing the same 6 stories 24hr. a day

Maybe I just don't get it, but I think America West is already trying to apologize in its own way. From the end of the interview:"Well the airline, America West, has been very nice. The vice president called me, and I personally talked to him. And the public relations director talked to me. And I'm going to have them out to the house to meet my wife and the rest of the tribe and let them know that we are not terrorists. We're just ordinary citizens trying to get on an airline to go someplace and back home."

I thought these airports replaced the ex-Burger King employees and hired people that were qualified. Can you imagine how embarrassed he must have been? When war heroes get treated like that I'm sure FDR and his cousin ol'Teddy are rollin' in their graves.

v35.....I think he was once governor of South Dakota or North Dakota. The people of California lack the wisdom of selecting a man of his caliber. Ronald Reagon was a fluke there. Most of them favor guys like "Governor Moonbeams" ...(aka Jerry Brown). Beach

Beach...Or like the present Governor, Grey "Sugarlips" Davis. I met Mr. Foss at an NRA Benefit down in Arizona a couple of years ago where he was the guest speaker. What a great man and patriot. Sitting around a campfire listening to his experiences would be better then winning the lottery. He was Governor of South Dakota from 1955-59 and President of the NRA from 1988-90. He was also the first commisioner of the AFL. It's a shame that he had to endure the stupidity of some of the people that enjoy the freedom that he and others have provided for us. But, after meeting and talking to him, I can understand his calmness and patience during this attack. He's just that kind of guy. And, afterall, a Congressional Medal of Honor can easily be mistaken for a handgun or box cutter, if the light is just right.

Received this from America West Customer Relations as a reply to my e-mail expressing my thoughts on how this subject was handled by them: Thank you for your email. The concern you expressed on behalf of GeneralJoseph Foss, based on his experience with airport security personnel atPhoenix Sky Harbor Airport is shared by all of us at America West Airlines. Our number one priority at America West is the safety and security of all ofour customers. In light of the terrorist attacks of September 11, our goal, along with that of the airports we serve, is to make flying safer than ithas ever been. Our employees and the security companies we work with havedone an outstanding job in this regard. While it is clear that Gen. Foss, with his distinguished record of braveryand service on behalf of our country, does not pose a threat to the Americanpublic, our security personnel cannot be put in a position of makingexceptions to the stringent, federally mandated security measures in place.By the same token, however, when an individual of Gen. Foss' stature istreated with anything other than the respect and dignity he deserves, theline has been crossed. Please know that we have contacted Gen. Foss to offer our apologies.America West recognizes the sacrifice made by veterans like Gen. Fossthroughout our country's history, and we have no intention of diminishingthe contribution he made in preserving the freedom of individuals like youand me.Sincerely,Sandi WaltersCustomer Relations
