My local U.P.S. have told me 3 times that they can't ship guns or even part of a gun.I go to the U.S.Post Office and send them Priorty Mail. No questions asked.Yet if you read the U.S.P.S. regulations;they say that they will not ship guns. They have never asked me what is in the package.

You're getting bad info from UPS. I recieve ammo via UPS all the time, and, my FFL gets my guns via UPS. You have to declare it as Hazardous Material. They put a special sticker on the box and that's it.

Yeah, you're getting stroked, alright.I ship ALL my sales via UPS. You just have either an anti-gun zealot or a complete moron behind the counter of your UPS merchant's shop.It is absolutely legal to ship firearms via UPS. You just have to "disable" them. I just pull the bolt out of rifles or the slide off handguns and then stuff the two parts into the box. A tip:Although I do declare it as a firearm to the clerk, I ask that they label the box as "Machine Parts" to deter UPS driver theft. After all, when it's reduced to two or more parts, a firearm IS just "machine parts". Don't know if it helps or not, but I CAN say I've never had a shipment "disappear" when using that system.Good luck!

From what I've read here- UPS and only ships guns from an owner that are non-functional and are being shipped for repair. Don't know how true that is.From my real experience- Fed Ex will ship guns, you should inform them it is a firearm, but not indicate it in the address or shipping info. I shipped to S&W, and S&W told me not to have S&W in the address, just "Customer Service" with their address. Also, Fed Ex requires guns be shipped priority overnight, which will run close to $40 unless the receiver picks up the cost, which S&W does.Lastly, I've read here guns have to be "disabled" to be shipped Fed Ex, but S&W said this is misinformation, and ship fully functioning guns Fed Ex to all their warranty customers.

According to the UPS tariff, they will ship firearms between licensees and also from nonlicensees to an FFL holder for repair or customizing. Rifles and shotguns can be mailed by anyone as long as the transfer is in accordance with BATF regulations. Handguns can only be mailed between dealers, distributors, and manufacturers.

I think local policy must have a lot to do with it. I have never been refused a shipment. Rifles shotguns or pistols. It seems as long as I have a FFL or C&R they take it. Only thing I don't like is the next day air on handguns. However I do mostly ship C&R and Handguns USPS no problem there either.
