Has anybody here attended the FrontSight firearms training course in CA or NV? Am considering the 4 day Defensive Handgun program? Should I?

I deal with many armed professionals in my line of work and I have heard really good things about "Front Sight", just wish I could afford to attend.....

If you look here on the auction site under "Front Sight" or "Front Site", you'll see gift certificates for the 4 day classes going for about $400 instead of the $1000 you'd pay Front Sight directly. Those certificates are for folks who have never attended a Front Sight course before. If you have been to Front Sight before and would like to attend again at a discounted rate, you can also find gift certificates here on GB for as little as $600 and those certificates are again for either two of the Two Day courses or one of the Four Day courses. I'm going to the 4-Day Practical Rifle Course at the end of February. It's going to be my first time at Front Sight and I'm VERY excited! I've heard nothing but good things about the course. My advice would be to go to the Vegas branch though, since almost everything is illegal in California. It'd suck to get down to the facility and be pulled over by the law with your Illegal Assault Revolver in the trunk. You won't run into those problems traveling through Nevada. I'm driving and it's going to add 8 hours to my drive by bypassing Cali, but it'll be worth avoiding a troublesome traffic stop.

Evil,I hadn't seen those auctions, but will look them up. Sounds like a great deal.Have you taken the free full auto course? What rifle are you taking? Have you taken other Front Site courses? I've read about them in gun mags, but don't know anyone who has been there.I think I'll give some serious consideration to attending a course there. Gee, maybe we can get a whole class of GunBroker guys there. That would be really neat!

Evil, I might see you there. Am considering the 4 day Defensive Handgun also for late Feb. I found their website - the course descriptions look great. Many thanks for the lead on the discount certificates. The $600 savings will pay for the trip, accommodations, ammo, etc. Will owe you a graduation drink!

Luger:Nope, never been before. I'm taking my M1A for the rifle course. I'm going to take the 4 Day Handgun and Shotgun courses this spring and summer. Uncle Pat:No problemo! I was dinking around on the auction site here THE DAY BEFORE MY $1,000 payment for the rifle course was to be processed and I found the certificates by dumb luck and God send. I hope to see you there!

I helped stake the power into Frontsite west of Las Vegas so I got to know some of the instructors and I have talked to a lot of people that have taken the classes and they all have nothing but praise, I have never heard anything negative. I plan on taking some classes myself as soon as I get my carry gun and permit but dang I have to drive 15 minutes to get there!

FS is about 45 minutes west of Las Vegas on Hwy 160 or some call it Blue Diamond Rd. which is on the south end of Las Vegs off of I-15. Also at that exit is the Silverton Casino/Hotel or if you prefer to stay in Pahrump here are a couple of links to places to stay. Depends on if you are looking for the night life of Vegas or just looking for a place to stay. Also less than a mile west of Silverton on Hwy 160 is Nevada Pistol which is somehow connected with FS and they sell all guns at cost plus you get a free ccw permit! Let me know if I can help you more. http://www.pahrump-nugget.com/index.html http://www.saddlewest.com/
