A 8mm Rem Mag necked down to 7mm, that is a gun writer's claim to fame. Basically a copy of the about 15 year old .308 Baer which is a 340 Weatherby Mag necked down to 7mm.7mm STW recoil similar to 300 Wby Mag.Good potent hunting cartridge. Decent accuracy relative to case volume/harmonics in the right rifle.Ammo availability somewhat lean.
    Happy Bullet Holes!

I have a rifle that has been thru alot. Started out as a 7mm rem mag, rechambered to 7mm wtby mag(mistake!), rechambered to 7mmstw and I was pleased.kept it at the stw for quite awhile and learned that you really have to reload to get the most from it. It has excellent range and is accurate. Plenty of power to make anything we have go belly up. I had the gun completey rebuilt and chambered in the 7mm rem um simply for the velocities. I really liked the stw and if I was to do it again I would stay with the stw because the um has the same accuracy with a minimal gain in velocity and it is soooo much easier to find brass for the stw. If this was a one gun house I would have the stw. ALL HAIL THE .284!!Also if you have ever read any of my other posts you will know why I say mistake on the wtby. If there was ever a line of chamberings I hate, it is the wtby. All they do is go fast and thats it!
