Ok here's what I did. I still have the R1 and will never sell it because it still lets get some of the aggressions of a teenager out of me that seem to creep up sometimes! I just bought a Yamaha Virago 1100 off of ebay. Now I know it's not a Harley but it has a V Twin and kinda resembles one. I promise if I ever get to Sturgis and get a chance to meet you I will ride the Virago, but if you insist on picking on me about the rocket I will have to come up there with it and give you a good 'ol fashoined dusting(on the rear wheel of course!) Wife has been bugging me to slow down and she wanted me to get another bike, well I'll get another bike but I'm keeping my R1! Do you know of anyone who had a Virago? Is it an ok machine and will it peel the paint off of a hog?Just kidding. Sorry about the name calling a couple of weeks ago. I took it personal when I mistook a post and thought it was directed at me. I apologize. I can be a total nut on a bike and even though I'm not an expert rider I feel confident that under circumstances I can controll I can ride hard. Have a good one and maybe some time we can burn some pavement together.

Please leave message I left you in 'Are You From Arizona'. Noticed you mentioned taking a knife to Mexico. You might want to reconsider.

7mm: My wife has a 1998 1100 Virago. Hers is the "Special", black with a bunch of extra chrome.I have nothing but respect for those bikes. She started out with a new 1993 Virago 750 and put 35,000 miles on it chasing me all over the western U.S. When we heard that Yamaha was going to discontinue the Virago she traded in the 750 for the '98 1100,the last model year for the big Virago.I've only ridden hers a couple of times but I was impressed with the power, handling and brakes. I also like the full gauges (tachometer) and the lightness of the bike. The bike seems too small-framed for me (too short), but I'm used to my Harley. The only thing that bothered me about them is the gear whine when you let off the throttle. Seems abnormally loud, but both her 750 and the 1100 made the same noise, and the mechanic at the Yamaha dealer says they all did it and it's nothing to worry about. One real pain in the * with them is the location of the oil filter. You can't change it without unbolting the right-side rail that holds the footpeg, rear brake pedal and in my wife's case, the crash bars. You have to take all that stuff loose just to get the damn filter out of its hidey-hole. Absolutely no thought went into the placement of it when they designed those bikes. I was always hoping somebody would come out with a spin-on conversion for them, but since the bikes are no longer made there's no chance of that now. What year is yours? How many miles on it? Any modifications? You can buy a bunch of after-market go-fast stuff for them. Carb kits, pipes, etc. The old lady won't let me tweak hers. Says she likes it just the way it is (stock). What the hell's the matter with her?Later.

Looks real nice, man. You'll like the hell out of it.You'll probably want to change the shocks. The things are sprung pretty soft and after 11 years, if those are the stock shocks (and they look like they are), they're probably pretty limp-wristed by now. Progressive Suspension makes a great set for that bike.

I'll check it out, I got it for $2500 which seems to be the going price for them so I hope I got a good deal. To the wife it looks slower than the R1 so it makes her happy. She told me to sell the R! but I got news for her, nobody will buy it for what I have to have to get rid of my favorite toy. I'll post it on ebay and set my reserve rediculously high so I don't sell it. It will be worth the listing money to keep her off my *!
