I'm sorry I lost your email address. I wanted to share some info with you. A fellow shooting enthusiast from the Sioux City area has told me about a mountain lion that was shot by a land-owner. I wanted to let you know before you or any of the locals decided to take out the nuisance in your area. My friend explained that some have actually been introduced into the midwest as an experiment. He told me of a man that shot one and then had the guys in the white hats show up asking for it. He claimed he didn't know what they were talking about and they explained that these mountain lions have tracking devices implanted under their skin and they tracked the carcass to his property. Have you talked to the DNR about your situation? This interests me. Any news through the grapevine is appreciated.

The tariffs the President proposed (or is this "Executive decree" stuff?) on steel imports should be good for the domestic scrap market--assuming you didn't sell a pile of it last week!Ofcourse all the rest of us will end up paying for it in higher prices and worse...if "retaliatory tariffs" are put in place by other countries affecting our exports.

I know what you mean what helps one hurts another it never seems to be "in the middle" it is either worthless or high priced a seller always wants as much as he can get and a buyer wants it as cheap as he can get, it gets pretty tough at times though I would like to put some wages on the board of trade and say well you done good so we will pay you well or you did a bad job so lets cut your pay in 1/2 I would think they would see the light then

I think even with the new tarriff, if it does raise the scrap market up, won't help much as people who have been sitting on their scrap will start dumping once the price comes up some. Yea, the prices have been REAL bad here for quite some time. I would bet not many people would be willing to take a 60% cut in their pay. well, if you are a junk man, that's just what you have done the last three years. I hope the market moves soon, as I am also sitting on some scrap-400 tons of scrap rail and OTM = 5 ton of #2 copper + 4 ton of alumnium. I will wait and keep my fingers crossed! Just think..... for evry $10.00 that rail jumps, it's a .50 cal! Is that cool or what?!

We havent been sitting on it to much we still have to make a living so we pedal what we can we just junked out 3 huge generators we have sold out almost 9,000 lbs of copper most all of it was #1, but what do you do when you got to keep makin a living (dont forget buy a few new guns) I totaly agree with you about the 60% cut in pay its tough, but one thing when the price is good there is a lot of competition when it goes bad it sure weeds out the weekend warriors Hardtyms

Question for you scrappers. Is copper wiring worth anything? We are going to undergo a major remodeling of my house this year wich will include replacing all of the 1950's era wiring. Should I bother cleaning it and selling it or just give it away. Not sure how much weight there will be but we have 8 rooms plus attic and basement that are wired.

7mm,Check in the yellow pages under "scrap".I think scrap copper is around 30 cents a pound now--a few years ago it was around a buck a pound.I save all the copper, aluminum and brass I come-up with; bring a pick-up load into the scrap yard every few years and get a few hundred bucks.I hate to throw away anything worth money! But if prices are too low, it's not worth the time--like handling small amounts of steel scrap or glass isn't worth it for me.
guns-n-painthorses,Did you see the link I had put on the end of your silver post? Let us know what the mystery metal turns out to be.

7mm, role that old wire up make sure there is no solder or anything on the #1 wire (which is #2 pencil lead round or larger) and burn all of the insulation off of it and you will get a lot more out of it you should at least get enough for a small bar-BQ and beer party dont be fooled copper adds up pretty quick todays prices #2 is about .46 cents a lb and #1 around .54 cents a lb I hope this helps you Hardtyms
