Digital cameras - need recommendations

I need an low cost digital camera for snapshots around my property. The purpose of the camera would be for emailing images. I saw a Polaroid PDC640 at Sam's Wholesale for $99.95. Are these worth a flip and what else is there in that price range?

I can't remember who makes it but the Mavica works great for what you want. Uses a 3.5" computer disk. Very simple to use( I'm FAR from being a techono geek and I found it easy) Resolution is good for pictures on the net. Can't say what they're selling for now.

Please do not waste your money on a cheapie digital camera. You will only lose the money when you finally buy a good one and set the cheapie aside. I know. I am looking at a cheap Polaroid digital that I bought a couple of years ago. It is lying about the living room because it has been given to the kids to play with.I too like the Sony Mavica. Any of them with an optical zoom and using a floppy disk for media. Thanks

We got a Nikon 950($500). Love it. Got a 128 meg disc for it and on "standard" setting, can get about 600 pictures on the disc. On "fine" setting (highest resolution) it still puts 106 pics on the disc. With the "reader"(extra $30) you can load the pics directly into your computer. Really cool piece of equipment. Nunn and Barto are right. If you buy a "cheapo" now, you'll wind up spending the money later to get something decent.Mudge the photogoofer

I started with a 640 and it takes great pictures. Biggest drawback to me was the cables used to download it, however you can buy a SmartMediaCard reader and just put the media card in it, about 40.00.Or you can haunt the pawn shops and find you a camera that uses the 3.5 floppy and skip all that.Search ebay and you see a large selection of dig cameras and acc.

I know this sounds pricey but I use an epson 750 photo pc and thats what it cost $750 about 3 years ago it has zoom and holds 46 color images in its own memory plus other goodies I use it every day and it has taken thousands of pictures but remember the old saying you get what you pay for

Gotta agree with Mudge, the Nikon CoolPix series is the way to go. The 995 can be had for about $620 right now, plus Nikon has a $100 rebate going. All the features that this camera has can be a little intimidating for the novice user, but you can use it as a point-n-shoot, and grow into it. Takes great photos.
