Indian Motorcycles

The Victory motorcycle thread got me thinking. How many current production (Polaris) Indians have you seen on the road?

I think if Polaris gives up on Victory to concentrate on Indian,
they've got a tough row to hoe.

Nobody knows "Indian" motorcycles anymore, they've changed hands & shut down so many times that most folks think, "Another stinkin'import from the steamy sub-continent!"
Building them in Mexico like that front wheel drive scooter will fairly well kill it off.

Whether it is a Victory or an Indian it is still going to be almost a Harley. Might as well cry once and buy the real thing...

Quite a few of my friends have Indians. No one I know has a Victory. I love the Indians, but way to rich for the common rider. You can buy two Harley's for the price of an Indian. If I had my choice, I would take the Indian, over the Harley. Oakie

True, go to the top from the start, you should get a BMW motorcycle and enjoy the very best.

Saw LOTS more new Indian bikes this summer, but with a Indian dealership in Sturgis, that was bound to happen... I like the looks of the Scout but the bigger models I don't care for. I've heard the hotter Scout runs pretty darn good!

Victory gave me a glimmer of hope that an American company would build a motorcycle worth riding.

I'm probably going to have to buy a Motus one of these days. They're made in Alabama.

One of my dads flat track bikes was an Indian. They actually will have a bike this year on the AMA flat track circuit.

The only new Indians I have seen are at the dealer's. I really love the old ones, but I suspect the new Indian will follow the Victory.

People love to rag on the Harley Davidson, but they are the most successful motorcycle brand ever.

    and yes I ride one.

The Indian of old has nothing in common with the current indian other than the name & they both have two wheels.

I have seen a lot of them around, but there are more Victory's out there, because Polaris has been making them longer. I have several friends who own Victory's, and some have had nothing but problems with them.

I rode a friends new Indian Scout, and it felt smaller to me than a Harley Sportster. The floor boards were too high, and it felt like my knees were higher than the tank.

I have never liked the feel of an BMW. It felt like I was riding on top of funny feeling contraption that had zero normal motorcycle characteristics.

The new Milwaukee Eight engine is the quickest & smoothest Harley I have ever ridden. I recommend everyone give one a try.

I bought a new Victory in 2015, it is twice the bike that my Ultra Glide is for ride and mechanics. I do not like the Indian Cheiftan just something about that front fender look, though I will admit Indian has some cool color schemes.
Here in northeast Pa. it is hard to find good late model Victory bike around they sell used real quick at dealers their balance is the best all current bikes except the new Hondas

People love to rag on the Harley Davidson, but they are the LUCKIEST motorcycle brand ever.

HD since '77. Still own others too, 77-79-07 HD-- 03 Suz-- 86/06 Honda--75 H1. Most every MC Mfg makes a good bike now. Sorry to hear Victory go. Rode some and was impressed with their quality. Also rode the new Big Indians- 2 wheel boats are not for me!!!
HD lucked out when it became a yuppie status symbol and cult of personality. It does look like HD did a good job this year coming out with a motor from a 1986 Honda [8 valve] HD is good at what they do- sell lifestyle. It is what makes them big money. Hell their china clothes and accessories make the MOCO more money than the bikes do. Not much "American" about HD anymore IMO.
As for M/C's? HD is still the old and slow brand. Hey their thing is touring and they do Glides very well. HD fit and finish is the best also IMO.
BUT... I do love smoking new 1200 Sportys with a 1975 H1 500 when some one goes all "HD's the BEST" on me.
I'm a "that ya ride" guy NOT "what ya ride" type.

I meant take one for a test ride, I did. Any harley shop will gladly set you up with a test ride.

I road the 2017 Streetglide. The only thing I didn't care for was the smooth shifting of the trans. It wasn't the old clunky hard shifting Harley of old I was used to...but that may not be a bad thing...[:D]
