On now. Watching the beginning, landing on the beach scene.

Anyone thinking War is glamorous should watch this movie.

    Utterly terrifying.

I saw the new movie Hacksaw ridge. It has battle scenes every bit as intense.
Having to fight a jungle war against a suicidal enemy would test your sanity.

My Dad was in the Pacific in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. A 32 year Lifer, ABN CSM.

He never spoke to me directly about what he saw, but when other Veterans he knew, were over, and he did not know we Were in earshot, he had some harrowing stories to tell.

Later when the Germans unleash a 20MM on the Yanks on top of the tank the gore was some of the most intense ever shown. Meat and body parts were flying and another good one to speak of the horror of real war

I think the descriptions of the bombing of Hamburg depicted the most horrifying events inflicted on human beings and yes, worse than Hiroshima

It is decent but I would not consider it great.

The Russians could school Hollyweird on how to make good WW2 movies.

Battle of Neretva, Road to Berlin, White Tiger, War Movie (a movie about the battle in the Hurgen forest leading up to the battle of the Bulge). All good movies. No stupid camera crap, no city blocks blown up by a single hand grenade.. Movies showing and telling it the way it was.

Amen. White Tiger is an excellent armor movie. You have a T-34 crew searching for a notorious Tiger in their theater of battle.

"White Tiger" is what the Russians called any tank that had a good crew (Top gun so to speak). If they noticed a single tank dominating the battle field, all attempts would be made to take it out first. Using any means possible from firepower to ramming it with a T34.

I have a 90 year old friend who is a former Marine, and was a survivor of the battle of Iwo Jima.

He will talk about it from time to time, and has been interviewed by several book writers who were put in touch with him through the VA.

He has told me that no movie could ever reflect accurately how bad it really was...[B)]
