Reading Flying Clays post about being a 'jacket state". How many of us are still wearing long johns?

I tell people I don't feel warm enough until the first day of May-- thus May Day [^]

I don't even own long johns. No more natural insulation than I have on my frame I rely on a wool union suit, of which I own several.[^]

It depends on the temp and activity level.

I only wear long under wear in extremely cold weather. My body doesn't regulate temp well and I've got to be able to shed clothes easily to maintain an acceptable temp. Long johns only work if I'm sedentary or in below zero temps.

Long John's??? It only gets cold enough to wear pants 2 or 3 weeks out of the year around here, long johns are not needed. But I did wear them often when I was still able to hunt.

I quit the long johns when I found out about work pants with fleece linings. Even the flannel lined one's are easier than LJ"s.

I only wear them if the temp is at or below 10 degrees. I work outside all year round. I can tolerate the cold better than 90 degrees. I'm fairly thin without natural insulation, but I'm always moving.

I knew an old construction worker that wore long johns year round.
    Even in 100 degree temps.
I haven't worn long johns in decades.

I wore them when I worked construction, when I was working out side in the winter ,
I do not have any now .
now I just wear insulated coveralls or bibs depending on what I am doing out side.

my son has a battery powered heated jacket / coat . he loves it

Good socks and flannel lined jeans are my favorite unless it gets below zero. I have some long johns in case I have to add the extra layer but they don't see much use.

Usually I am wearing long john bottoms from October thru til about April. Whenever I am working outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping or tramping. The upper, I will wear if I am sitting still for extended periods such as hunting. Did a 6 miler tramp yesterday, had long bottoms and double-kneed Carrhart pants, long upper and heavy wool shirt with my heavy wool coat in my pack. Temp was about 40 and sunny. Just more comfy with long johns during the cooler weather. BTW I am about 150 with little body fat so I am not as naturally well insulated as some of you all.
