Reminds us that a lot of the folks over there were just kids not that long ago. He is just 20 and to me that is a kid. Base came under fire and he did his job. Seriously, Texas should be proud of this native son.

He got the essentials to do the job and went to work on a moment's notice. Got his helmet, body armor and rifle. Beyond that, he could have been naked. A good kid that one.

Thats funny I don't care who you are. I certainly commend him on his rapid response, and I know when you wake up and have to immediately run out you're doing good to get the basics. You have to realize that this guy is going to get shat about this for the rest of his military career, he will never live this one down.

So which was Audie Murphy...or Claire Chennault...or Dwight Eisenhower...or Chester Nimitz?

As much as people accuse Texans of liking to brag, you've probably never heard it pointed out that more WWII US General officers came out of Texas A&M than any other single institute. Y'all are welcome.[;)]

I can't help but think of how demoralizing it must be to find yourself with your hands up, because some American kid GI in pink boxers and flip-flops has you in the cross-hairs.[:D]

Give me a break. We respect our guys in uniform more than to post that kind of "funnin" while they are in harms way. It's a respect thing.

Not saying you weren't trying to be funny, just saying you weren't.

Dress code be damned, he was on duty at the call. Good soldier, he would be a good Marine too.[:p]

God bless these young men and women. Times and technology changes, but the soldier remains the same.[^]

Didn't think you meant disrespect, just thought your attempt at humor fell a little short. It's something the brotherhood holds close to their chest and I don't expect others to understand.[;)]

Yes, I thought about the fact if I was an officer there I would recomend the boys not be wearing pink boxers and bright colored shirts to bed. He did make a bright attention grabbing target. I already wrote above what I thought of him. But I hope he gets some new drawers so the taliban don't take dead aim on his pink a@@.

Let me put it this way If he was a Marine He would be a little lighter in the PocketBook. Not cause he did not had his trousers on. But the underware he is wearing is not Authorized. There is a reason it is not authorized. It makes you a target.

Please not what his buddy right next to him has on. think that may be what he was issued and required to have.

Supersonic missiles, smart bombs, heavy artillery all are fine, but when it comes right down to it, it takes boots on the ground to win a war. Even if those boots are flipflops. Great soldier.

I'll have to agree and disagree with you here Gunny. Pink boxers and red T shirts were not on the packing list and were probably sent to him. It does make him a target though, (but so does the army's new don't blend in with anything camoflage,) and its not like the enemy doesn't already know where they are. He has his gear on, thats good enough.

My experience in Afghanistan is the enemy can hit you with a rock at 300m but is lucky if they hit you with an AK at 50 feet. I can remember my last week in Afghanistan, we were finally able to take real showers, No sooner than I got in the shower we were getting mortared. I threw on a towel, grabbed my rifle, and ran for the closest bunker. Which was by the HQ. I jumped in the bunker full of WMs and realized I had lost the towel and both showershoes on the way.

I would see no need to take money away from him, he is doing his job, and responded to a threat. Granted its not his uniform but at least he showed up what would you rather him do sit in his tent and continue to jerk off? His punishment will be getting his balls busted for this for the rest of his military career. It is funny and hopefully he can laugh at it too.

I do appreciate the young man for what he is doing....but I cannot see why he is wearing a red shirt. He was probobly reamed pretty hard by his superiors for what happened.
