It was fairly straightforward for us, the gal has been beaten all bloody, needs medical care, we put her on the stretcher and took her to the hospital.
For the cops it was a real mess, the guy has committed felony assault and battery, and as we load the woman into the ambulance she cries out "Don't put him in jail I love him!"
Drove the cops crazy. A month later, we are back at the same apartment, same story all over again. The cops hated running "domestics."
Domestic dispute. Anything can happen when people get worked up. Have to be one of the least favorite calls an officer can be sent on.
My former BIL can attest to that. He was a cop in East Point, GA.
He responded to a DV call with his partner....husband beating wife. His partner lost track of the wife while BIL was subduing the man. Wife comes in kitchen, from the other side. and shoots BIL in his chest with a .38 snubbie. Hit his plate, Thank God!. Knocked the hell out of him. His partner had to shoot the woman.
Good thoughts for the wounded officers.

Law enforcement might make it out but civilians, no way, chicago alone indicates statistically it won't happen.

After a couple of those calls to the same address, the next time I got one I'd take the scenic route to get there. Give them time to kill as many family members as they can and be done with them.
