This is my rig and what I want done. In the first pic, I want this extended by 10 inches. I grew since I was 18[:D]. In the second picture, you can see where I cut my holster to except my scoped handgun. I want some rope or whatever around the cut out or just make a new one to except my gun. Maybe a strap or what ever you think.

John, I think it would be a good idea to extend the buckle end and the strap end each 5 inches instead of 10 on the strap end. If you just extend the strap end, the holster will ride farther back on your hip with the buckle centered in the front. Of course you could wear it with the buckle over to the left side so the holster rides where you would like.

By extending it 10 inches, the back wider part behind the buckle will have a gap between the ends. Of course you can extend that also but will not look as good.

When you say 'rope' are you talking about the decorative stamping on the edge? That will be hard to duplicate unless someone has the same stamp available. It is hard to tell in the pictures what it actually looks like.

What gun and barrel length is this for?

Just my thoughts for you to consider.

    Thanks---Peabo

The gun is a smith and wesson model 57 41 mag with an *3/8 barrel. I wanted something to lace up the cuts I made or the holster replaced with a bigger one. Peabo, I like your ideas. I don't want the buckle off to the side. The rig fit great when I was in my 20's and weighted 128 pounds, but mother nature and age got the best of me. I weight 200 now but losing weight fast after back surgery. I want to get back to atleast 165 or 170. I love this rig and use it to hunt with. I forgot all about it until I saw Trinity's post about rigs. I dug it out and want to use it again. I could send it to a leather smith up the street from me, but rather give my business to a brother on GB.

    Oakie,

The holster is no problem. I recommend a new one!

The belt is a bit harder, but I can extend it.

I would probably do what peabo reccomended so that it evens out on both sides. The color may not match exactly as yours has faded over the years. However, I may be able to re-stain the entire rig.

    I'll email you the estimate.

OK, we will take it from there.

    Oakie,

    You got mail.

Looking closer at the rig, I can lace up that cut for almost no charge using scrap, but I recommend a new holster for your 57. Does it have the scope?

The only problem I see is that I may not be able to recreate the tooling. Won't know for sure until I take a closer look at it. Either way it wouldn't cost any more if I did get it tooled on a new holster.
