Who else has been scammed by "mail in rebates". Out of 6 I sent in
only three came through with no problem. Two others. Bigger money
ones, luckily I made pepros of and finally collected. One, no luck.

One thing they often don't tell you is you can only take the same product rebate once. I bought two of something one time, and sent in both, got a letter back saying only one rebate per customer.

But I've had pretty good luck otherwise. I got 2 rebates on my computer system -- both came through after a number of weeks. They're never very quick.

greetings, a year or so ago i bought a couple trac-phones with the $50 rebates , to make a long story sick, they don't honor them, either for the money or the time. respt submitted dads-freehold

I found out that you have to carefully read the fine print and submit immediately as they usually have an expiration date. I purchased some new office equipment; Fax, phones, etc. Did not send in the rebate forms in immediately, thought I was going to get $90.00 in rebates. Aproximately 60 days later I receive a form letter notifying me that I had not submitted on time and was not eligible for the rebates.

greeting again, what airborne says is true, in my case they pointed out that the rebate slip had expired even before i bought the phone, tho the store was still advertizing it (walgreenes) of whom also had a disclaimer and are still running the ad. respt submitted dads-freehold

For me it was a $50.00 computer monitor rebate, I'm glad the monitor works good though.Walgreens is at the absolute bottom of my store list. The only way I would go in there is if there were NO OTHER STORES. They are always advertizing something that they either do not have or as dads-freehold said, coupon outdated, and they KNOW IT.

If I knew then, what I know now.

Still waiting on my Trac-Fone rebate. It says A\"Allow 15-18 weeks for processing."
The thing I hate most about them is that you have to pay sales tax on the amount you recieve back plus the cost of postage. That sure cuts into the savings.

Gruntled I wonder what they would say if it took 15-18 weeks for your check to clear.

The scam is basically this: The companies offering the rebate know that a large percentage of the persons buying their product will for one reason or another never actually submit/mail-in the rebate offers.
Hey I tried to do it once and it was very time consuming and frustrating, with all the requirements for upc codes, this that and the other. Corporate marketing savvy, pure and simple.

I generally don't go for any rebate less than $5-10, not worth the time and postage, but I never had a problem as long as I followed the rules.

How many of you remember the great internet rebate scam about a year or more back? There was a company that wanted you to buy stuff from them on the internet at outrageous prices -- like $900 for a CD player -- with the lure that they would totally refund your money in 90 days with a rebate. Of course, it was a pyramid scheme and very few of the suckers ever got their rebates.
