The violence Policy center is awarding a $3000 prize for an essay about the second amendment. It is called the ALEXANDER HAMILTON SECOND AMENDMENT ESSAY CONTEST. In the description of the contest, VPS explains that Hamilton understood the difference between a "well regulated Militia" and an armed populace. They also point out how interesting it is that Hamilton himself was a victim of gun violence(Aaron Burr). The contest is open to law students, and undergrads looking to become lawyers. I think the goal is obvious: They are trying to get some law school student lackey to find some evidence that the Right to Bear arms does not exist, and that a "well regulated militia" is not the people. They realize that true legal historians cant come up with the evidence they need, so they are trying to get a lacky to come up with something they can use. How pathetic. To back up their absurd interpetation of the second amendment, they are going to send some poor nitwit student on a historical journey to find evidence that does not exist. www.vpc.org
