--"Americans for Gun Safety" hypocrisy.
Staffer Get Your Gun. Some Congressional staffers were surprised to receive an invite from Americans for Gun Safety to attend a gun show this weekend in Richmond, Va.The little junket begins when a chartered bus leaves Capitol Hill at 2 p.m. Friday with an on-board briefing on "Ilegal Gun Trafficking"and then the attendees will check into the swank Jefferson Hotel, site of a welcoming reception. Everyone will later head to Havana 59, a cigar-and-martini bar, for "dinner."After breakfast on Saturday the staffers will be taken for a firsthand look at how people are able to take advantage of the "gun-show loophole" by purchasing weapons without going through the normal background checks. The folks at the Violence Policy Center, an anti-gun group that thinks AGSisn't true to the cause, claims that the trip doesn't add up. "Taking into account Americans for Gun Safety's pro-gun agenda, this gun-show junket is more likely to be a bargain-hunting expedition than a fact-finding mission," said a VPC spokeswoman. One House staffer who declined AGS's invite added:"It certainly struck me as strange that a group so opposed to gun shows would take Congressional staff to a gun show. What would they do when staffers started buying guns on AGS's dime?"But Jim Kessler, AGS's policy and research director, vowed that the staffers "won't be buying any guns there" because the bus will eventually be taking everyone back to D.C., where carrying firearms is illegal."Most Congressional staff have not been to a gun show. It gives them an idea about what goes on there,"he said, noting that the experience can be downright "frightening http://www.rollcall.com/pages/columns/hoh/

The experience can be frightening! LOL "Omygod! EEEK!! It's a gun!Lady, it's a Civil War era musket and it's in two pieces...."Run children! To the minivan! Save yourselves!"Sounds like my 11th grade math teacher who announced on the first day of school that "Anyone I hear talking about guns will be turned in to the FBI".Stood up and told her right then that I was a "proud gun owner and a defender of the Constitution and the Second Amendment". My suspension slip was rejected by the vice-principal, who feared the lawsuit I would have certainly brought. Or perhaps he had some small level of conscience or common sense. My father backed me up in any case.I've never found out whether she actually called the FBI.[This message has been edited by Bullzeye (edited 01-10-2002).]

Just what will the VPC do when the staffers see that its not a bazzar for terrorists and gang-bangers ... just a bunch of everyday people it would be even better if staffers saw friends and/or neighbors there! I can see this backfiring in the VPC's face ... unless this is some kind of a set up where the VPC has arranged to have terrorists and gang-bang looking types there.

If you really desire something, you'll find a way ?
? otherwise, you'll find an excuse.

They'll kick out all the regular buyers and fill the place with Arabs in turbans and guys with dreadlocks. That'd be hilarious but not unexpected.

Bullzeye,I just picked myself up the floor and had to clean the coffee up that I spit all over myself I was laughing so hard after that last post. If they can doctor up Osama's picture for those flyers, they can do anything. Imagine VPC and the Feds filling the room with terrorists and gang thugs. Ah! What a start to the day!
