The new WalMart opened last Monday in Truth or Consequences, NM, and had a record turnout of folks seeking work.
Of 300 applications for employment, 270 were chosen for interviews.
Of 270 interviews, 260 people were selected for employment and sent for physicals and mandatory drug/alcohol screening.
Out of all those folks; 3 passed the drug screen. None passed the alcohol screening.
So there's a new WalMart in T or C, but there's nobody to greet you, watch you shop, or check you out.
WalMarts' store manager said they were actively seeking illegals, because they would almost certainly pass the drug tests.

I wonder how many will return in 30 or 60 days and pee clean?

where did this information come from?
sounds very fishy, from the amount of applicants failing the drug test, to the public admission of seeking illegals
With that knd of employee pool, they've obviously got the customer demographic they want...

I agree, VERY fishy. Who would publicize their drug failure rates? And who would openly say they are "seeking illegals?"
CP in Bonanza
sounds more believable than 98-99% failure, the above sounds more like wal-mart bashing propaganda than fact
T or C is about 17,000 population, most of which is retired. Their Grandkids usually stay the summer, and used to work @ Sonic, McDs, or the Super Saver until WalMart came along and promised jobs for all the kids.
T or C is only 60 miles from Mexico, along I-25, and only 20 miles from Hatch; which has more illegals than residents due to the chile crop.
You've got the wrong guy for WalMart bashing; I live in a city with the largest square footage store in the state about 1/4 mile away, and it's only one of eight!

Yea right.........Wal-Mart sux.
Maybe you doubters can inspire them to modernize their archives to please your senses of morality or whatever causes you to deny that anything not fitting your specific model of life in America is true.
Besides all that, If I post it; you can believe it. I'm not here to bloviate or distort reality-we have Mods for that sort of thing.
